I think it is better for each person to pay their own fees direct to the campgrounds that way if you want to pull out then you don't have to go through me to do it.

Good... I am still working hard at getting the time off to be in Alice Springs during the PP 2009 GTG on the way to SA. As soon as I know whether or not I can definitely make this I'll be sure to let you know.

Was thinking today about deposits..
Mav, When would you require a depost for any of the campgrounds etc??

And on another note, I hope the fuel prices stay as they are, They arent that painful at the moment...

6 months eh??? and counting down. Time to make a dent on the TO DO list. It will be here before we know it.

Roof rack, additions to the trailer, new fridge slide to suit one seat in the back, tyres, etc etc.

At this stage it will be a pay as you arrive deal at the campgrounds. Many of the places will take bookings in advance if you contact them. I had hoped things would have been better on the sponsor front but that is not looking to good in the current climate.

Just let them know you are part of Pradopoint, they all know we are coming, the only iffy one will be Kings Canyon as I have been dealing with the event organiser at the resort and not with the central booking agency in Sydney. I will be speaking with her again when I get back to see how she wants the bookings to be handled but all the rest are clued up on us.

To be honest I have no idea, I can tell you that there is no mobile coverage at Ross River or Glen Helen but I do not know about Kings Canyon. I think there is mobile coverage at Ayers Rock.

Sorry MAv i am confused with the bookings i understand i pay as i get there but are you going to ring up and book x people coming to each place or do we individualy ring each location myself and book for the dates as outlined in the web site.

i.e am i just turning up and paying or am i booking and paying

If i am doing th ringing myself do i need to get on this now or wait

Sorry for the confusion Chester, the resorts know approximately how many people are turning up as I have filled them in on the dates we will be there and approx how many people there will be. You just need to book and pay for yourself either when you get there or before it is up to you. I have tee'd up the campground at Ross River Resort, Glen Helen Resort, Kings Canyon Resort and Ayers Rock. The caravan park at the MacDonnell Range Tourist Park is the place I have yet to confirm things with but I will be doing this at the end of January. I will email all attendees the details at the end of Jan so hold off doing anything till I have sent out an email to you all.

I have been updating the confirmed attendees via email as to what is occuring but generally speaking it is fine for attendees to book their accommodation at Ross River, Glen Helen and Ayers Rock campgrounds. I am still asking everyone to hold off on Kings Canyon and Macdonnell Range Tourist Park for a litlle longer before booking them. I need to go down to Kings Canyon either this weekend or next weekend to talk to the groups manager there some more.

I should have Macdonnell Range ready to start bookings soon.

I am waiting on the quote for event insurance to arrive as that is needed by NPWS before they will issue the relevent permits to allow us to go into the National Parks as a group.

That is about it for now, I have mailed out the indemnity waivers to all attendees to fill out and return either by email, snail mail or hand it to me at Ross River when you arrive.

Okay folks the time has come to set a cutoff date for registrations for the get togther. Wow time has really flown since Chritmas, I cannot believe we are now at the end of February already. Anyway the cutoff date is the 31 March 09, this is being done at the request of one resort so they can assess their powered site needs for other campers .

So there you have it, if you intend to cme along please get your registration in before the COB on the 31 March 09. The only reason that registrations will close earlier than that is if the available slots are taken and if that looks like occuring I will make an announcement to that effect.

Well we have had a few people pull out and some join up to keep the numbers about the same but at the moment we are hovering around the 35 cars. I have yet to let Glen Helen resort know what the final numbers will be for them due to some folk now going through Boggy Hole instead. Once I know final figures from those taking the Boggy Hole route I will notify Glen Helen so they know how many camping spots they will have for other casual campers. The week of the GTG is the peak tourist week for the Centre and camping spots are very difficult to come by at any campground here.

Mav... not sure if it is on your itinerary while visiting Glen Helen, however, you might want to consider a short excursion to Roma Gorge for those that might be interested in viewing some ancient Aboriginal rock carvings (petroglyphs) in a picturesque gorge.

This place doesn't get much publicity and isn't mentioned on too many maps for some reason. All the better in my mind as it is a great spot. Access to this area is not far from the Redbank Gorge turnoff (see map):



I understand these rock carvings to be the only ones of their type in the West MacDonnell Ranges. I've visited there a few times with the family and it is a very enjoyable short 4wd trip and very interesting spot to walk and picnic with the family.
