Ben and I may both be joining you if you will allow Toyota FJ's into the run. They are well broken in.

Come on down Uphill, that is a bit of an oxymoron now isn't it.

Only real stipulation is that you are a member of the forum and it must be a Toyota, obviously preferrable if it were the Prado but so long as it is a Toyota 4x4 then it is welcome.

They don't sell Prados and they don't sell diesels in the States. We're all envious of your options. We make do with the Toyotas we can buy as best we can.

Your FJ looks pretty well setup Uphill, are you thinking of bringing it over with Bens? Would be great to see you guys here for the GTG.

              Larry,

Welcome to PP. I hope you don't mind, but I promise us FJ's won't take over the forum. I was hoping to travel with a companion who is more knowledgeable than I am. Uphill has some of the best off-roading experience and the best product knowledge for outfitting the FJ. He was the only one I would think of to accompanying me "down under".

PP is a valuable resource because a lot of the technical issues are looked at from a different view and a lot of thinking is out of the box and practical.

Pointers, Just to show you how knowledgeable Uphill is I want to share a good post with you that seems to be the hardest question to answer....What to mod first when on a budget. http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...st-2000-a.html

Absolutely my mates! The camera is packed, the batteries are charged.

I'm sitting in Sydney airport now, waiting for my flight. I have a couple of weeks of work before the MudFling... and I don't mind saying that I will have a hard time concentrating with the Mudfling on my mind .

A huge thanks to Ben for his enthusiastic invitation.

                        LFaR.
PS: Rob, (DarkHorse), did you happen to fly me down from the Coast this morning? DJ504.

                          HI All,

I am planning to come along at this stage, but need some info on the tracks and road condition that we plan to use, as I looking into getting either an off-road Camper (say a T-Van or Similar) or an Off Road Caravan.

What would it be best suited to?

Stuart, if you are planning to do the more extreme part with LC120_man which is going to Kings Canyon via Boggy Hole then you would be better off with a T-Van. However if you want to do the GTG with the rest of us through Glen Helen and doing the Mereenie Loop Road then you should be okay with an off road caravan. The only thing I would make mention of is that the corrugations on the Mereenie Loop Road can be pretty severe in places so talk to the manufacturers about how their products will handle bad corrugations before handing over the dollars. I would definitely only look at independant suspension.

                              Stuart,

Depends on how many people are going with you in the car. From experience if everything fits in the car it is easier to go without camper trailer. It takes less time to setup/pack-up with proper setup, less fuel usage, etc, etc...

At this stage I will be only attending the GTG.

Does anyone own a off-road caravan?
                                What brand is the best?

I have only looked at Scenic Caravans and Trackmaster
