      Just two permits Steve.

One for WA, which is from Laverton to the WA/NT border (the http://www.dia.wa.gov.au/Land/Entry-Permits/ permit).
One for NT, which is from the WA/NT border to Yulara (the http://www.clc.org.au/OnlinePermits/Transit.aspx permit).

You just have to remember to specify the the dates for travel there and back on your application (if travelling both ways
      on the Great Central Road).

        Hi all.

Just doing a bit of permit gettin.

The WA link to the Permits section seems to be down at the moment.
But the CLC one is working.

Noticed this note (down the bottom) which I had read about before, but dont know if has been mentioned here yet????

Which road(s) do you want to travel?
ULURU TO WA BORDER (Tjukaruru Road via Docker River and including access to Tjunti - Lasseter's Cave). Note: To continue on this road into WA, a permit is required from Ngaanyatjarra Council (phone 8950 1711)
PAPUNYA TO WA BORDER TOWARDS KIWIRRKURRA (Kintore Road via Kintore)
PAPUNYA TO WA BORDER TOWARDS DOCKER RIVER (Kintore and Sandy Blight Roads via Kintore).
Note: the Sandy Blight Road is a very rough and remote road which requires a full day to traverse. As the road crosses the WA border, a permit is also required from Ngaanyatjarra Council (phone 8950 1711)
GLEN HELEN TO PAPUNYA (Glen Helen-Papunya Road) Note: A permit is not required to visit Glen Helen Gorge. This selection covers the back road out of Glen Helen to Papunya. This road could accompany the other roads, apart from the Docker River Road.
Note: Mereenie Tour Pass which includes a Mereenie Loop Road transit permit is not available online but at access communities and at CLC in Alice Springs.

Mav, or anyone else, if your reading this, have you knowledge on the Mereenie Loop Road transit permit???

        Jeff.

And as for the Surveyor Generals Corner.

Not only is it expensive, it is now closed.

(from the dept indigi affairs website)

Travel from Warburton to Surveyor General's Corner.
Please Note: As at 7 March 2003 the Surveyor Generals Corner is CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE to ANY and ALL visitors.

Fines may be incurred for any Unauthorised Entry and Travel through Aboriginal Reserves.

This is a decision that Irrunytju (Wingellina) Community has ratified as at a meeting held March 2003.

                    Ditto

Did my applications on-line and got the WA one back the following morning, got the NT one a couple of hours later - but both were back within 24 hours.

Yup got mine pretty quick, confusing though, one for this one for that. I understand its Aboriginal land but why cant they issue one permit to cover all the land? I mean you can travel right through Europe, visit like 50 countries without any permits.

I looked at those ARB fridges Jeff, they look the business. We are considering hiring an extra fridge for the GTG as one doesnt seem enough.

Never actually thought about hiring, Oh well its organised now.
Considering we will really only use both fridges a few times a year I now feel kinda dumb not even looking into hiring... ops:

On the other hand, they should be both around for years to come.

Crikey Camper hire also hire fridges and generators, I am looking into a generator but a decent one is sooo expensive to buy. I was thinking that if I got a Honda 2 it could run the wifes hair dryer, (she likes the sound of that)
I was also wondering if that particular generator would run power tools, that way I could justify the cost. I did a job in Rockingham a few weeks ago and the power was off so I lost a days money.

We are getting the Rhino 1/2 bag. Its about the full lemgth of the roof rack, but only 1/2 the width.

I'm making a fridge slide for the Engel32LT for in the camper. its a long bugger. if it works out well we can make one to suit yours.
I have the rear fridge slide thing we use when we dont have a full car. You can borrow that. it replaces the rear seats, Only thing is it was built to suit the 32lt. its the same base as the 40 but shorter in the height. so yours might not fit.

                                Jeff.
