You guys still doing Googs on the way to the GTG?
Just starting a bit of planning and considering Googs as a option. What day you planning on leaving Ceduna?

I've got GPS data (track log in Magellan and Ozi formats) for Googs if you want it (I've done it before).

                Hey Guys,
There is two of us that is heading East from WA for the GTG across the bite and want to turn left after Ceduna going up to Coober pedy to save going the long way around.
Does any one know if that track is just a gravel road or what? We are both towing off road camper trailers and think this would be a great short cut.

I just googled Ceduna to Coober Pedy and it came up with this track.

I have a friend who drives that route quite a bit and he reckons it is a good dirt road, I drive by the Glendambo end of it all the time and it is a very good dirt road at that end of it.

                    Thanks Mav,
Gary E and myself are going that way.

Would you say if we allowed 1 day to travel between Ceduna and Coober Pedy as we want to explore the under ground life the next day and find some Opals.

It appears to be only 550km or so.Couple of photo stops and we should be there.

                    Cheers

                    Russ.

                        Me to unfortunately.

A group of school friends are going the same way at the same time so we decided to join them, built in company for our two kids.

Really disappointed to miss out on the GTG, but we will be up there at the same time so we may bump into some PPers.

As for the route, we will pull the kids out of school a day early and head off very early morning, straight up the bitumen to the property i worked on years ago, spend most of a day there, Cooper Pedy Friday night and all day Saturday, meet the rest of our group Saturday night, then head for Ayers Rock Sunday.

                        Really looking forward to it

I am planning on travelling to the PP GTG via South Australia - as I will be doing the Oodnadatta Track and some other travels around the Flinders Region beforehand.

Sing out if you are travelling to the 2009 GTG via the South Stuart Highway and might be stopping over somewhere along the way prior to the 4th July.

                            Russ,

I used to drive this dirt road in a lowered falcon ute when I was a youngster, from Wirrulla to Glendambo.

You will have no problems - mostly limestone based gravel near plenty of salt lakes.

It can get abit slippery after rains but all of my rellies (farmers & pastrolists) there reckon it doesnt rain there anymore.
