    WiFi, Next G, 3G, GSM - Coverage?

    I know we will have ample communications coverage in Alice Springs.

    I'm wondering what (if any) coverage we will have at each of the campgrounds or on our travels between them.

      go to your mobile companies website and check the coverage area maps
      had an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

        I did the research in March prior to a stint in Alice and went Telstra Next G Wireless Prepaid Broadband.
        As reported above, not a lot of coverage in really out there places, bit slow, but ok in Alice, and surprised to find pockets of coverage in places like Gapuwiyak (East Arnhem Land), Daly River, Wadeye (Port Keats).
        I don't think it's worth wasting time with anybody other than Telstra whose coverage is best, but they do cost the most.
        if all you are doing is email and a little browsing, then $20 or $30 / month will do you as it did us.

            According to McDonald's webiste, free WiFi is available at the Maccas on cnr of Parsons Street and Stuart Hwy in Alice.

              Yep supposedly but good luck with that. :lol: :lol: It is pretty small and very busy. The town library has internet machine available as well but hold onto your valuables as there are itinerants that work the library in gangs trying to thieve wallets etc. I know cause I have caught them at it. There are also plenty of internet cafes around town including vending machines at the casino foyer. There is also a Wi-Fi available in the Casion cafe area.
