UPDATE ON BARB's WRIST
Barb attended the Alice Springs Hospital on our arrival in Alice Springs on Saturday. Following an Xray, what was suspected at Uluru Clinic was confirmed - Barb has broken her wrist as the result of her small tumle on the descent from the top of Ayres Rock.
At Alice Springs Hospital she was placed in a plaster cast from above the elbow to the wrist. Barb had to have her wedding rings cut off due to the swelling. Today (Sunday) a CT scan was done on the wrist and it confirmed the full extent of the break. The end result is an operation by orthapedic surgeon on Monday (tomorrow) morning to put a plate and screws in to stabilise the break. Barb will be in hospital from 0830 Monday with the opertaion (which will last 1-2 hours) being done under general anaesthetic sometime Monday morning.
Today Barb's wrist is much less swollen and she is in no real pain. All good signs I am assured.
The surgeon is confident that we will be able to continue our travels on Tuesday if there is no complications overnight following the surgery.
The next tricky bit is getting to another Orthapedic Surgeon in 7-10 days to have the surgery results assessed for stability and infection. If Kunnanurra does not have orthapedic services it is off to Darwin for a quick side trip and check up.
Thanks to all who have expressed concern and offered their help. I will update you all again when the surgery results are known.
In no way has this little incident lessened our opinion of the GTG. It was everythong we expected and a lot more. Barb and I had a ball. Thanks Mav and Dale for your huge efforts in putting together a fantastic time for us all. The highlights are many and all will stay with us for many years to come. It was just the icing on the cake following our fantastic time getting to the GTG via the Simpson Desert. Barb is now a totally converted off road and dirt road touring fan - happy days.

Hi all
Pradopoint Airlines, Flight A - from Yulara to Perth, has just touched down in Perth.
The GCR was in great nick, an overnight stay just east of Laverton, and an early arrival in Kalgoorlie meant we had the opportunity to punt through for home ... so we did
The GTG was a blast and I'll spend a bit of time tomorrow posting some pics.
Paul and Dale ... you guys are legends and organised an amazing experience for everyone. Thanks heaps.
Thanks also to all those PP'ers who attended and made the event so special ..... and to all those who couldn't get there - try and get on board for the next one .... its gonna be HUGE !!!

Hi All,
I too have been in the Sick list.
I have been put in Isolation at the Wintersun Caravan Park, with a mild Flu, (not Swine Flu) and given Tamiflu, due to the fact I meet some of the requirements.
I am now waiting until Wednesday before I can leave and head home to Lara.
Callo - Where are you staying?

Im sure there was some discussion on the location of the 2nd PP GTG no? (its never to early)
There was plenty of discussion on the location of next years GTG, stay tuned for more about it in coming months once we work out the logistics of doing it where we think it will be.
It was a fantastic time at the GTG, I wish it was the 4th of July all over again. Thanks everyone for making it the success that it was. I feel very humbled by the gifts presented to my wife and I by everyone who attended, it was totally unexpected and we feel very honoured to have received them.
It will take me a little while to add some photos as we had to leave direct from Ayers Rock campground to drive down to Windsor in NSW due to a family medical emergency, strange how you can go from elation to despare within the spate of a few days. I guess these things a sent to try us.
Anyway I know a lot of the attendees are still taking their time getting back to their home bases and in some cases they have another 12 weeks of travelling planned. I hope everyone returns home safely and will share their stories with everyone who were unable to attend.
