  • Generators to Share Power

    Hi All,

After talking to Mav via email, he suggested that I raise this as a topic.

As we don't have powered sites for our GTG (from what I understand), could those who are taking Generators and are happy to share power (If capacity allows), please detail the following:
    • Make
      Capacity
Number of Power Outlets on Generator
      Site Number (if Known)

I ask this as there is little point all of us carting the extra weight of Generators and fuel, when we can maybe share the power.

      Re: Generators to Share Power

I will have my generator at the GTG as it lives on the back of the van, only used it at home to try it out and isn't even run in yet.Got it to run the aircon if needed and to recharge the house batteries if we run out of sunshine

      Make -- Honda
      Capacity -- 2KVA
Number of Power Outlets on Generator --2
Site Number -- next door to Mav

I also have solar power on the van with a 500 watt pure sinwave inverter and 2x 120amp house batteries which runs most things i need including the washing machine and a breadmaker and is great for charging camera batteries and laptops

just look out for this setup

Hey Quicky, that is a great setup. We have opted to go into a cabin as it was not cost effective for us to lug the camper over and back, originally we were going to be doing it with another Alice member who were taking their camper too but they have pulled out so we figured it would be better to just leave the camper here for this one that way we can cut down our travelling time and expense in fuel. So I guess our camping spot is free unless they have already allocated to another person already.

              Quicky,
I have just noticed the photo of your van. It looks like a Paramount Delta. If so there will be 2 of them at the GTG. I will be prepositioning mine during the preceding week to the GTG then returning to the Gold Coast in time for the trip to the GTG with LFaR and many others. After a week in the tent getting to the GTG I will be looking forward to a hot shower and a double bed to crawl into. Especially after a few beverages with the GTG mob, especially those I have not seen since the Red Centre GTG. I will not win any prizes this year fo the longest return journey from the GTg as I will only be gone for 3 months not 6 months this time before I get home.
I look forward to swapping stories when we catch up.

Spot on Callo, it's a 19'6'' delta and we are very happy with it.It's done a few k's since we bought it but this year has been a bit quit travel wise as I have a new job and we a travelling to the US again this year just before the GTG so the van has been parked up the side of the house.Come over and check it out and see some of the mods I have made, you can play with your van as much as your Prado.Richoson wont's to have a look as he is in the market for a touring van.I might just be able to find a cold one in the fridge as well
