just to let those coming to the GTG, stocko has put on a changed design. should be a reasonably easy drive.
stocktons dunes are quite hard to drive at the moment due to the winds that came through on sept 5.
i heard reports that gust were over 125km/hr for over 10hrs.
this is the results.

keep in mind lavis lane doesn't re-open till 19th sept due to NPWS track upgrades, so no access anyway,
but it would be very difficult to exit to lavis. the dune are steep and extremely soft. we walked them and ya leg was sinking approx 500mm each step, so quite difficult to run vehicles over it.
give it a couple of weeks of vehicle trying to drive around and some rain and it will be good as it always is.

these pics were taken of where lavis lane used to go.



this shot is just of the back dunes (not going to try and get near then without other vehicle/support)



the dunes at the high tide mark look like they have moved 3mtrs forward towards the water.
forest sections are now just visible at the tips of dunes,
and no vehicle tracks behind the front dunes. it's like a fresh start

Looks like we are in for a fun time Damo. I just heard today that the extended warranty company has green lighted my new turbo so it should be back in the car by this Friday.

Yeh! Thats the good thing about dunes like Stocko,they never stay the same for too long,makes for a real challenge but can be very dangerous for the unwary sand driver. Hope that you all us sand flags on the day,The taller the better.

it would be interesting to see if any, or how many, of the tank traps are now showing with all that wind movement.

Looks like we are in for a fun time Damo. I just heard today that the extended warranty company has green lighted my new turbo so it should be back in the car by this Friday.

come on i grew up there just let another 3 psi out and go for it. Remember if you shovel for long enough you will get out .....eventually

I was up at Stocko last weekend, the sand was great for driving,some soft drift sand in some of the hollows but generaly good firm dunes.Had a blast.

doing a run to stocko tomorra with an old china plate :lol: to check out the flash as new beach access. i will post some fotos to let you know what you are in for lol. cheers samo

we had a quick run at stocko today to check conditions out.
looks good. the new entry is great (but not sure for how long - wind/sand).
i'm sure samo will post some pics, not that he needs to.
dune formations are excellent for the GTG.
still soft, so will be good fun.
found some dunes for people to play on (parents can drive up, kids can slide down).
remember to wear 8) on the beach. at present very few wheel tracks exist,
making it hard to get your depth perception right at the right time, so anything that makes it easier/safer.
