2011 GTG Update

Hi Folks

We have had weeks of rain up here in Qld but that hasn't stopped us from planning the 2011 GTG, this weekend is a recce on the middle of the trip.

This will be around the Jimna / Conandale National Park area and we will post some photos for you to get an idea of the country.

Wish I was going Richo, but at least I can wet my appetite when you post the pictures of the weekend. Make sure that you take photos of Stewy getting stuck...if he does get stuck that is.

Had a great weekend fellas with our 2011GTG trip planning, with also some great weather.
We're starting to get some nice routes laid out for Day3 of the GetToGether people.

And for the record, I wasn't stuck.....just mobilized briefly whilst contemplating my next move on an uphill climb on a very slippery clay trail.
I still have my record intact.
No-one recovered me (ie. no other vehicle help)...LOL,... I eventually got moving,..3rd time lucky at lower tyre pressures (20psi) and with the aid of some borrowed MaxTrax thanks to LFaR.
First time I've ever used them and they worked a treat.

I got some real nice pics on the new SLR, so will endeavour to post some pics and maybe some HD video on Youtube tomorrow.

and what part of "with the aid of some borrowed MATRAX" says that you were not stuck.......Glad to see you in the midst of other recovered PPers Stewy. Alas I am disappointed that you can't acknowledge when your stuck Stew...... But glad no damage was done.

LFaR's spotties needed some attention to correct their direction, so here are the fellas doing some maintenance.







All in all we saw alot and covered some very scenic country with alot of fun thrown in along the way.

looks like some great tracks planned there! i'm trying to place where they are but looks like some detouring off the normal tracks we chase around SEQ. am getting pretty keen!

Here's a video of the one (actually 3) recovery from the weekend. Not an overly steep section but the track had a ground cover of wet leaves and damp clay just underneath. Combine that with a momentary loss of forward travel and bingo... stuck.
This section is a contender for one of the transit days... but still, there are plenty of other tracks to explore.

Hmmmmmm. I've never known anyone who uses Maxtrax to get out of a "Not Stuck" situation.....alas four Maxtrax used on two different occassions on the same hill.
Glad that I don't get stuck often.....What about you Stewy?

Well, someone had to be the guinea pig to work out what tyre pressure to air down to.
But was glad to have the MaxTrax there just to get the vehicle going in a forward direction.

If only we had Snaga's effort on video, his was one sensational rally drive with Scandinavian Flicks all over the place.

Glad that I didn't bring the camper trailer along for the trip. I might have NOT gotten stuck just like Stewy. Hope there are more pics coming. Would have loved to be there spending a few days with a great bunch of people doing what they do best.....play and recreation.
