A trip down south sounds great... might even go solo this time being such a long drive...
Cheers, Leon There's no such thing as a wrong turn... it's just the scenic route!

It certainly would entail a bit more travel, but hey, that's what a tag along is about. I thought that an 8 day GTG would give two days at each main location, with a half day travel to location 2 and same for location 3. I thought by finishing in the flinders, those who want to go on to do the Simpson / Eyre can do so on their own.
I will volunteer Dave, Rob and Matt to be on the committee. They basically have no choice anyway.......
We started with a much longer drive originally for this years GTG. But the distances travelled really reduced the 4WD component of the trip. Even from the NSW/QLD border would have pushed it out to an 8 day GTG.

5 of us would make a committee, that would be enough for us to put our hand up. MLC never shy to comment no doubt will read this and throw his hat in the ring officially today. Might have to swap emails and start some of the preliminary work. You should already have my email Ian. Might need to think about the first Recce to eh, bring it on.
Cheers Andrew

Looks like "GAME ON" for SA, well done boys!! Here is how we started,
1. Form the Committee, have enough to allow for redundancy, we didn't have formal roles.
2. Do a recce.
3. Decide on dates, utilising school holidays for interstaters if possible.
4. Do another recce.
5. Allocate tasks and build a schedule.
6. Do another recce.
7. Scratch the previous trip plan.
8. Do another recce. (by this stage you should be thinking about flowers for the missus as well)
9. Decide on a final travel plan, we wanted to show off SEQ, hence the short transit distances with day trips. I've been through the Flinders twice now and you can get some good distances done with sight seeing along the way.
10. Do another recce. (now's probably the time for a quiet weekend away with the family).
Remember that "recce" is the code word for having a shed load of fun 4Being, don't let the partners know though.
Looks like my new sign off will be, "See ya in SA", Richo.

Hmmm... I was thinking of planning the GTG a little more like this...
1) Do a Recce
2) Do another Recce
3) Do another Recce - bring home chocolates for wife
4) Do another Recce - but take kids with me
5) Do another Recce - bring home flowers
6) Do another Recce
7) Do another Recce
Do you mean there is actually more planning involved than just having fun with the boys
I all of this Recce runs, and flowers etc, not once did I see a mention of the following:
1) have abeer
2) maybe a glass of wine, or 3
3) let the missus wash the car after the recce (or Matt if he is home from fishing)
4) have another beer
Maybe I need to confirm I will be able to asist with the organisation of the event

Richo. I take it then that you are surrendering your elected position of "self appointed" President to AJ?
Any disentention?......?.... ?. Congratulations AJ, democratically elected the New President of PP.
There is by default and in accordance with article 17.3.8, they requirement for someone to be elected deputy from another state. We are calling for nominations. Please be respectful of the long established rules, laws, bilaws, regulations, articles, and relevant case law when lodging your nomination and becoming deputy automatically.
I must take this opportunty to point out all matters raised at the 2011 GTG (of which I have absolutely no knowledge) and the required personality traits of humorous, capable of talking shite with the best of them, fluent in blaming others for your own mistakes and comfortable in having the pis(t)s taken out of you. Hmm, basically the same attributes as shared by most Asutralian politicians.
PS Nobody is going to really vote except for you so feel free to be duelly elected and in the fuiring line.
Finally Richo, on behalf of all the members that have elected and supported you as our inaugral President I would like to express our warmest gratitude as I fight back some deep emotions that bring a tear to my eye. The standards you have set as a our iunaugral leader are amongst the highest we have ever experienced. (think about it). We take some comfort that your successor is up to the challenge but acknowledge that it will not be an easy task for him.
God bless you Richo, thank you for the many, many benefits we now enjoy as members of PP, some which may never have eventuated without your tireless and devoted efforts. I for one feel emotionally richer for the experiences and I'm sure others who are still reading this crap will join with me in these thoughts (voluntary or otherwise).
Finally Richo, you will always be remebered as the man that had the forethought and intenstinal fortitude to publically make the claim"
