It reminds me how on Stockton Beach the only cabooses that could not crest the dune were petrol. In this case, the drivers were very experienced, so we can't put it down to driver error either . At least one of those drivers is now in a diesel.

We don't have that namby pamby east coast sand that makes it hard to get over the big dunes here................ Your all going to have enough trouble just driving on the flat

If you're talking about me...

a. not in a diesel yet (but flying to Syd tomorrow for the final deal )
b. It was beacase of mechanical issues that I didn't want to push my luck... thankfully now, a new mechanic and a fresh set of eyes and the problem was fixed.

c. if you're not talking about me... what I've written above will self destruct in 10 sec

Beg your pardon Mr LFAR... Samo has a shot of my 150 V6 going over the top of the largest dune front wheels just off the ground, and I backed off

I'm just not happy I can't make it to the 2012 GTG to quell all the banter, if the situation changes look out for a white 150 with personalized Qld plates stalking the groups

Approximately how far can you get on LPG and petrol combined? I believe the committee is planning fuel stops for the group. We obviously can't have people stopping sporadically at different servos as we need to keep the groups together and moving consistently. If we know how far the LPGs can get, we can plan a stop that suits everyone in the group.

Obviously things would be easier if we were all diesels, as we could fill up at Bendleby at the start, and then at Beachport at the end. The thirsty petrols are holding up the rest of the group!!!

We got about 180kms on gas after filling up at Jamestown this included driving around Bendleby and being loaded up with the rooftop box on, then we still have 90lt of petrol which we get 350-400kms on. We normally get approx 320km on lpg and after doing calculations would get approx 300km on lpg loaded highway driving.

So we had figured that if we top up with lpg at Jamestown and then travel to Orroroo on petrol where we'd top up again, we should then be able to complete Bendleby and make it to Peterborough/Burra without topping up again (although there is always Orroroo on the way back out for petrol) before heading to Loxton.
