  • Holy shit Snaga, felt like I was sitting up on the roof, like it was 3D, never watched a shot like this before where it felt like I was riding along. What sort of video camera did/do you use ???...Cheers Steve

    • The footage is awsome but it does the tracks no justice to what they really are. If you ever get opportunity to get up there you will love it and you have to do billygoat ridge. Just wait til snaga puts up some footage of the border track and dune jumping around Beachport. That GoProsure got a workout. Keep up the good work Leon.

        • Thanks guys,
It's hard to get any time infront of the computer at the moment... (any that's not work unfortunately).

Just a GoPro2 mounted on the outside of the windscreen. Processed in iMovie. I keep trying Premier Pro from Adobe but keep coming back to iMovie

Here's a quick vid of the cross axle wobbles on one of the small dunes at the start of the border track.
After getting over the top I hear someone from behind me saying 'Nice Roothy impersonation Snaga!'... obviously referring to the poorly secured stuff on the roof racks that is so often the case in the 4WD Action DVD's. I clearly remember Roothy has problems keeping his Space Cases secured.
For me, it was the 30 sec tents Octopus Straps not cutting the mustard so they were quickly swapped out for some ratchet straps which handled the track a LOT better.

          Cheers, Leon

Videos such as this make me think - is there anything this bloke can't do? And is he the best/most favourite PPer we have?

Not that I want to start a poll on this, as I don't think it would be terribly constructive to single anyone else out, but given AJ's sharing of technical knowledge, informative posts, making products for other PPers, and organising what seems to have been an unreal GTG, I dare say I can't think of anyone else more giving to the PP community.

There are heaps of things he can't do. He couldn't get as high up the hill as me, torrie72 and vkprado, he couldn't dismount from a hill at love day and had to be rescued, he could get over a mound at HIS special private playground so again I rescued him, bloody useless if you ask me. oh wait, don't ask me until he has made my AJ Industries Emu Wing!

                    • I too, am waiting for AJ120 to make me an emu wing as well.

Otherwise I would tell all how he was trying to get the definition of "Bogged" changed........

Just so he could say that I was bogged when I wasn't.

                      Cheers

Thats correct Rev, you weren't bogged, I got up the dune with trailer in tow, you stopped before the top, chassis sitting on the sand, tried a snatch and the winch............ but you weren't bogged

I thought that this had been sorted.

If I had been unable to drive out either fowards or in reverse, I would have been bogged.

As I was able to reverse out, without any form of assistance what so ever, I will always maintain, that at no stage on this particular dune, or anywhere on the entire 2012 GTG was I bogged or for that matter on the 2011 GTG either.

I have been bogged in sand before, but it wasn't South Australian sand. It was Queensland sand and as I recall, you were bogged in the Queensland sand at the 2011 GTG. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Yes my forward momentum was stopped, but Andrew, that is still not bogged.

                              Cheers Lawrie

                              • Just to clarify my real thoughts on getting bogged or stuck.

There is no shame in getting bogged or stuck...... how else do you learn!

Also, the longer you go without needing assistance at some point.............The more embarrassing & harder it is to accept the assistance when you do need it.
