Thanks Wayne. We will also have the single burner butane stove as a backup, have plenty of cartridges for that but I hear they can sometimes freeze up if it gets too cold.

When we go away (extended family) we heat up a big pot of river water on the fire to supply the shower.
That goes into the bucket to feed the cheap 12v shower pump in the toilet tent.(multi use tent)
We also picked up a new shower unit, If I remember I'll toss in the other one for lending out, will only need 12v source and bucket.
4kg gas bottle last us(family of 4) for at least a week, but that is with no gas lights and mixed cooking.
A 9 and 4 should be ok. Think we are taking 2 4kg's at most.
Toss in an old billy or two for putting on the fire saves you gas. If you want to get it clean later rub the outside with thick soapy water. The black then washes off real easy.Chris220220 Finally a Prado owner

Hey Brad,
Usually we just jump in the river, it is usually not too cold this time of the year. I'm happy to demonstrate :-)
Because I was planning to bring the family I went & picked up a 12v shower ($20-30 at BCF) you can use this with a bucket of water.
Additional luxuries, hot water service to warm it up a bit, & a portable shower tent. I'd assume many people will have these things, but I wouldn't have if I knew the family was not coming. But I think I will make use of them.
Happy to warm up some water for you if I can get mine working :-)

Gas canisters do freeze up so are not much good in the morning if very cold. Later in the day they should be fine.
A way to make any pots easy to clean is to smear Jif on them before they go over the fire. Black just washes off when you Jif them first.White 2012 GXL 150 TD Auto. Work in progress. Aiming to spend less than when I kitted out the 120!

We have a thetford porti poti and usually use the thetford chemicals which are a big no no as far as pouring in drop toilets so I did some reading and then contacted Vic national parks and they confirmed you can tip biodegradable stuff down them so purchased a large bottle of biomagic http://www.biomagic.com.au so we are sorted. We have a 2 meter tigers 11 awning with walls on the side of the van with an external shower and hot water system built in but since we will be away from water for so long I will be bringing our Coleman hot water on demand and use the creek water it works real wellPradoPoint GTG 2014 - Iconic High Country - Victoria
