What do people think about the need for carrying spares, is it enough just to give the Prado a good service before we leave? I know we can't account for freak mechanical breakdowns. Just interested to know what others are considering taking to the high country.

Not necessary, if something brakes just swap it with another vehicle.......

There will be some form of communication and probably a daily notice board too.

I'm sure there will be plenty of PPers constantly telling you where to go MLC!

So pretty much the large clearing at the top is our intention, we have an advance party going in to declare the area a Patrol free zone, (sorry Exniss - who still is with Niss! - we still love you anyway!) Heres some from recce 5.

Whoops sorry guys there may be at least one Patrol in the area - my parents one! They're currently touring around SA and VIC, and may be able to be there around the same time. It won't be used for any GTG activities. Hope this won't be an issue?

Wondering whether the recce runs have been hard on tyres puncture wise? I usually carry a spare carcass and equipment to change a tyre however I would be happy to leave them in the shed this trip. What does the committee reckon?

We haven't had any dramas, yesterday going up Billy Goats was probably the hardest on them, theres a lot to be said for quality tyres and correct tyre pressures.
