Hopefully there will be no rain or it might become a problem, but then if its raining we'll be screwed both ways as I wont be able to get out but wont be able to light it either as it will be too wet lol........Cheers

Hi there barajak, the van also has electric brakes. Going by your description it's a steep road down in ??? Surely even in low range 1st and with electric brakes on van slotted rotors on my Prado it's not going to be that bad ?? May be holding a few people up behind me not much I can do about that unless there is enough room to pass me ?? Cheers Steve

If you are in low range you should not need to burn the van brakes and you can do it with a van in the rain as the access road is gravel/rock. As for going quick, we will be traveling in convoy, just pick a trip leader with a van and you will not be holding up anyone. I might have given the wrong impression of the hill, it is four or five km long and going down without a van needs low range or constant braking but it is a 2wd road.

So ####, are you booking us all into Mansfield caravan park as a mass group under PP, or is this some thing we do our selves ?? I would imagine this is some thing we do ourselves due to the range of type of camping/caravan/power/unpowered sites people would need/require and some thing that would be extremely difficult for you to organize.....Cheers Steve

I don't know what the caravan park is like but really, really push to have an area set aside for the PP group.
It's one of the disappointments I have regards organising the SEQ GTG in 2011.
The park refused to set an area aside for us and unfortunately it just wasn't the same with everyone spread around the park

I would imagine this is some thing we do ourselves due to the range of type of camping/caravan/power/unpowered sites people would need/require and some thing that would be extremely difficult for you to organize.....Cheers Steve

We will be sorting where we are staying this weekend 10th August. We will be making a group booking and paying the deposit. It will depend on what the park managers want as to whether you book with the committee when you pay up your entry fees or book directly with the park. Stay tuned.

Steve, I think it's possible to to get it in & out no worries. It could be a bit slow if you come across traffic going the other way.
I don't think it's that steep. Steep enough you would be very carefull when wet, but how wet, a week of rain? Well then I reconsider taking it in or out.
I hope we don't & don't expect too much rain there in April, but god knows.....

As James said, we will sort Accom out this Saturday.
Along with some other stuff.

After care full consideration & discussion by the committee today, it has been decided that we cannot increase numbers/availability.
It is our belief some of the list may not confirm, (by way of registration & payment) so remember priority will be given to the reserves list.

The website should be up soon to register & make payment to confirm you attendance.

THURSDAY 10TH APRIL 2014

drive/Transit day.

ROUTE A: the route will be suitable for trailers.
some dirt roads & some blacktop.
A nice drive that will take us to Talbotville.

ROUTE B: not suitable for trailers.
option for those that would like to experience a great 10hr back country drive to Talbotville.

If there's not many that want to do option B, it might not happen, no prob.
There is a few committee that will go to Talbotville & set up beforehand, eg; Monday?
Then travel to Mansfield Tuesday & swag it for those 2 days before returning to Talbotville Thursday option B if it happens.
Anyone wanting to do the same, so that you can option B.
just letting you know incase you like the idea. You will have people to travel to Mansfield with on the Tuesday.
Or leave trailer home? Or option A, all good!

Ok, We have most of Mansfield Caravan Park booked for the start of PP2014GTG on Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th April 2014.
When you confirm your place with payment and fill out the form that goes with it, you should say if you would like a powered site, un-powered or a cabin. Attendees will make full payment for their accommodation at the park on arrival, don't forget to say you are from PradoPoint particularly if you arrive before Tuesday 8th. We will be giving our attendance list to the caravan park with your powered/un-powered preferences to keep it well organised.

Oh well I should not complain as I lived near there for around 9 years and have seen a lot of it in the past....you boys enjoy the trip and ill organise a west coast trip as a backup with family etc...regards.

No need to panic my understanding is the last GTG had four drop out after payment was made and to date nobody has payed, as 1st reserve you should be a sure starter.

That is the park we are planning on staying at.
Sit tight, we are tentatively booking for the group.
We are paying a deposit.
All you will need to do is select what type of site or cabin you would like,
On the booking form, that will be in the gtg website soon.
We will update & confirm with the park.
You will need to pay the park when you arrive.
The only booking you will need to do with them is if you plan to arrive there before Tuesday.
