Camping at the lake sounds doable for those of us leaving from here. Looks like the adelaide departure convoy will include Gramps, Big Trev, MLC the rascal and us.

Seems there's quite a few closures around the lake etc at the moment. I'll have to have a better look on the maps to see how these will affect our entry to the lake, if at all.

Looks like those closures are the North end of the lake, so that counts out OTIT campground but Western Beach and Yaapeet are both open and probably those are the ones I would have looked at first. Failing them being any good there is also some camp spots slightly south at Lake Hindmarsh, but might be too much bitumen fo my liking that way!

My intended travel route should be fine, it will be interesting to see what areas have been burnt though. We travelled through Ngarkat 3 weeks after that was burnt out many years ago and it was quite an eye opener, both with how much vegetation seemed to be wiped out (all of it) but then how quickly it regenerated as 12 months later you could hardly tell it had been burnt.

      Cheers Andrew

I guess we could go straight to murrayville, then take the murrayville nhill track, down through chinaman flat track, and make our way over to the lake from there. Could make for a long day though. What do you know of the tracks I mention AJ? I hear that you should avoid murrayville nhill track if there's been any rain, otherwise, it's apparently straight forward.

We would need to know where you're planning on stopping though. I mean, it's not like you'll text us back if we message you, and you certainly won't reply to any of our Facebook message

I haven't been al the way down the Nhill Murrayville track but the parts I have driven were pretty good, its a formed road rather than a track so in the dry easy. Chinaman flat track I imagine is like most other tracks in Wyperfield and Big Desert, sandy but should be fine as its seems to be a much easier track than the Milmed Rock track that I plan to take solo towing the camper!

I will aim to make it to Western Beach, If that is unsuitable of full I will cut across to Yaapeet. I will have my sat phone and can let you know where I am at.

As for text messages and face book, ever thought of just calling someone

If we get a heap of rain between now and then my plans will change, Milmed rock track is impassable in the wet as is the Murrayville Nhill track, so in that case I will probably stay north and follow the Murray to Echuca.

Kris, that campground at Echuca sounds good to me, we might aim for that as well.

            Cheers Andrew

AJ, please remind the lovely Mrs AJ that she owes me enough bikkies to last the trip. If they are handed up in bulk upon your arrival at the gtg no one will get hurt.

PS: bring extras just in case I have an obsessive compulsive moment at eat them all in one sitting.........

                Regards

I guess we 'could' just phone you, but that's old school too... Who knows, hell might freeze over before we leave

As per the travel plans, let's reassess next week. It's important we stick together you know. Mexico is not a safe place at all... Safety in numbers they say.

Seriously though, do we all agree to offer MLC as a sacrifice first if the Mexicans try any fancy business? We'll save his better half, and I will take care of left over cookies...

MLC is driving a Grande, so he'll probably pop an airbag driving over a pebble getting into the campground the first night, so I doubt he will even make it far enough for us to sacrifice him
