Matt with those wings and a faster winch you could have been a kite, wish I could have had a crack at that on that day.PradoPoint GTG 2014 - Iconic High Country - Victoria

The only issue was that she made me scrub the audio before putting the video up.
We were lucky we had such a great day there as it was marked on the map not to do it in the wet. Good planning from the organisers of the GTG to keep us entertained and to make sure we didn't get bored by arriving at Talbotville to early. Also as Anders said a few days latter it was an easy drive up the hill.

Great video Kurt.
Just a little more grunt from my 1KZ to compensate for the load and some muddies would have seen me up without the need for a tow. Either that, or just have Ben in front of me wherever I go.04 GXL - Red Centa dual battery, Alloy B/bar, BFG AT's, Rhino Rack commercial bars x 3, GME TX3540, TJM roof cage, Outback Ideas recovery points, LHS rear drawer, 2" Dobinsons/Bilstein lift, ARB CKMA12 air compressor, CoilRite airbags, ARB 2.5m awning, MCC Dual Wheel Carrier, Eagle Eye headlights with 55w hid lo beam.

I agree the "big ass" muddies made the hill a lot easier. Though overall it was impressive how far the guys got with standard ATs. If it wasn't for the steep mounds I think most of them would have made it up the hill. It was a good thing that we had "dried out the hill" by the time Anders made his run.
The real heros were the guys helping the earlier guys up the hill. I helped a bit with the last car to get stuck and was throughly exhausted by the hill. I don't know how the other guys helped out multiple times. It was pretty difficult walking up it in the mud.
There is no swearing on the video as it wasn't me taking it. Overall I don't know why she was against the soundtrack, it sounds pretty good when Ben is doing the snatching. Also some of the hits as the cars go over the top mound were pretty loud. It makes me thankful that I installed one of the Toyota tow bar that covers almost all of the rear of the car.
It would be good to revisit the hill in the snow, that would be an interesting trip!
I will try and talk Karen into allowing me to put a full sound version on the dropbox.Prado GXL 150 D4D, OME Suspension, Safari Snorkel, Brown Davis Underbody Guards, T13 Bull Bar, Warn XP9.5, 285/70 r17 Cooper STTs on Dick Cepek Torque rims,

Great vids Kurt. I came sooo close to making it the 1st time and it was all downhill from there as evey time i tried again, i slid back a little. Still saving for a winch so that I don't need to be rescued next time! Can't get approval for the muddies at this stage though!Cheers, Brad

Hi Brad,
Yes it was a serious effort you put in on the 1st attempt in watching the video the amount of smoke off the tyres was impressive and you were so close to the top of that mound. It looked pretty difficult when you guys had to back up for the other attempts as there was no traction and plenty of slipping back down that hill. I am glad I didn't have to back down the hill.
I originally was looking at having 2 sets of tyres and had 2 sets for a long time, but the wife never had an issue with the noise from the muddies so they just stayed on. I sold the original tyres and rims just before the GTG which financed the new set of muddies. I hope this new set gets a lot more miles than the last set of muddies which were pro comp (good tyres but they were quick to wear on the black stuff). I personally think that the winch is a good investment, though it normally it just gets used to pull others out. But we do go out on a lot of long trips alone and it is good to know it is there if we need it. The good thing now is that there are a lot of good cheap reliable choices for winches so its not a huge cost any more.Prado GXL 150 D4D, OME Suspension, Safari Snorkel, Brown Davis Underbody Guards, T13 Bull Bar, Warn XP9.5, 285/70 r17 Cooper STTs on Dick Cepek Torque rims,
