  • What is the largest tire a stock 96 Prado 90 can handle without rubbing and no lift?

    Good day,
Considering the Kumho Road Venture SAT KL61, size; 285/75/16; http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey....jsp?type=ORAT

    Size options: 265/75R16, 265/75R16, 285/75R16.
Typical use would be: 70% on road 30% off road/beach, what would you recommend please?
    Regards.

Only the original size 265/70R16 will fit without rubbing.

Some 90 owners do have 265/75R16 without lift, but they rub. Depending on where it rubs (?), perhaps a skinny tyre of the same height would be another option; 235/85R16.

For 285's you MUST have suspension lift or bodylift or even both.

I have 265/75/16's on my standard set-up with no rubbing issues. Couldn't go any bigger though

I have 265/75 with stock suspension and the front end does rub on the mud flaps in certain off road situations.

Remember that 265/75/r16 is not the exact size of the tyre but more of a guide. The exact size can vary by as much as 10mm between brands.

I have a 95 series diesel and just fitted 265/75/16 Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors. Noticed a very slight rubbing noise when turning whilst reversing, I think it's the tyre hitting the bolt/screw that attaches the mudguard.

Will be fitting med duty std height lovells springs soon, perhaps the rumoured slight raise they give will help. Need worry-free access to carparks so a a 2" lift - which apparently negates the rubbing issue - is out of the question.
