Thanks for the heads up Wooley. If that is the case regarding the weekly/monthly issue, I will simply pay on a monthly basis. At least my cash is earning a little more interest over the year. Although considering the interest we get at the banks these days, it probably wont be enough to buy a case of beer.

Keep in mind the 3.9% isn't the rate you get, the comparison rates are based on a 5 year secured consumer fixed rate loan of $30,000. Basically the worst rate you can get. The actual rate will be around 6-7%

I went through Toyota at Woollengabba in Brisi, I dealt with James in new cars sales, he has been great, not pushy at all, nice to deal with.

Just a tip for you guys (I do equipment finance), when looking at quotes for finance. Make sure you look at the repayments and not always the rate. There will be finance companies that add in monthly fee's and charges in the repayment each month but lower rate will be higher then the other company that does not have a monthly fee and higher rate. We worked out the actual rate of a quote by car dealer and it was around 12%.

I agree, you can't get 3.9% on the Prado.
You will probably find that the cars that they are offering the 3.9% finance on, you will not be able to haggle on the price. The 3.9% will be offered on the RRP only.
Also, sometimes when you haggle hard to get a great deal on a car and a good price is agreed on, the dealer's finance try to bump up the rate by a couple of percent to get back on what they lost in the deal.
When I signed up for my Prado, I used a broker for finance and didn't go through the dealer at all. When I told the dealer this they kept pressuring me to use their "Toyota" finance. I stuck with the broker as I know him personally.
I ended up getting 7.3% fixed rate/monthly repayments.

Anythings better then a banks personal loan, I think its about 15% or more so any thing under that if for personal use is ok.....Theres always a catch isn't there, not sure with the lady here at work she bought a corolla last time (eraly this year) they had the cheap rate, my cousin bought the same vehicle only different colour, my cousin payed cash, was about
3g difference between them, I was wondering why, your probably correct with what you say in regards to haggling and fixed price........Cheers Steve

My car loan is through St George. They offered me a variable rate loan at the time which I thought was good idea because the interest rates were due to drop sometime soon. Wrong..... I've always had standard rate interest car loans in the past and will when I get another one for the next one. Interest rates were already bad at the time (12%), and every time the RBA raised the interest rates by .25% St George was Johnny on the spot to send me a letter within 4 days letting me know my interest rate was also going up by the same amount. This happened probably 6 times within a year following RBA increases, and a couple off their own backs as a way to make more money. Then when the RBA continuously dropped interest rates mine didn't budge one little bit for years. So much for variable. They use it to their advantage when it suits them, which is always. My interest rate has increased from 12% to 16% in 4 years. The car's nearly paid off so no point in changing lenders now. But I won't forget St. George in a hurry for doing this.

They were constantly advertising their low home loan rate, but to offset the losses they were increasing personal and car loans every time the wind changed. High home loan rates make the news. High car and personal loan rates don't.
