Thoughts on a 120 VX with 190k

Hi all, in the market for a new rig and a VX with 190k going for $28,500 has come up here in SA.

K's a little high than what I wanted but the price is fair.

I am after a VX or Grande with rear cooling, TD and good service history.

Worth a look or hold off?

Seems ok and as you said its fairly priced to suit the klms. Only issue might be is when you want to sell it. Its what they would class as above the average klms but these days whats the average, alot more then what they really say. People do big klms these days travelling to and from work etc. I would definately be asking for service records, wouldnt touch it with out them. With those sort of klms Id want to be seeing quit a few oil and filter changes, preferably every 5k,10's not to bad if its been freeway klms as there not stoping and starting so much but in saying that I changed my oil and filter in my 2.8d lux and it was done evry 4k for 300 thou till I sold it, not as vital with the 1kz as they dont gunk up as much but in saying that I use to do myn every 5k on the 1kz and by 5k the oil was dirty but not sludgy like the hilux would get by 6k.If its got what you want the price is write and the servicing is fair dinkum then I would say its probably a good car. My mates checked many a prado (does vehicle inspection) and he said on average hes checked some high klm both petrol and diesel prados and said they still virtually drove like new, no rattler or knocks so they are a good tight vehicle even with high klms

Dont forget you can always offer alot less then work your way up to a price you both agree on, he/she can only say no. Virtually every one does it when buying a vehicle. Cheers Steve

I bought a 2004 VX just on 2 years ago for a lot more money than that but it did have just over 100,000km and its the best car I've had in many years. By the look of the place that it is parked outside of, I wouldn't think they look like the kind of people to flog it too much; or bash it through the bush but would have looked after it.
As said above though, check the log book. A lot can be learnt from the service history also get a check done on it.

Bear in mind that if it is only rear air that makes you go up to the VX the GX and GXL both have rear air and all the fruit when fitted with the option packs.

Hiya Summit Seeker,

Im about to offload my 2006 Grande with 155K on it. It is Petrol, with Toyota bullbar, Light Force 240 Blitz spotties, snorkel and 12000lb winch. It is regularly serviced and i'm about to put 4 new tyres on it if i sell privately (happy to put on what buyer wants). Only reason for getting rid of it is i need something that will tow 3tonne. Sell price is $32K or $30k as is (no new tyres). I'm located in Brisbane. Let me know if your interested.
