Gday all
First post on the forums and just chasing some general opinions. My wife is hounding me for a prado and it will be a family offroad tourer. We have the option at the moment to choose between a base 2008 GX KDJ120R with 60k on the clock or a 2006 GXL KZJ120R with 80i.e.
Is it worth the extra couple of g to get the D4D or are the differences subtle.

If you can find the extra few $ then i would go with the GX.The 08 GX is close in spec to the older 06 GXL and if it has the option pack 1 being ABS and cruise then the only difference will be alloy wheels/steel wheels and and extra 30kw of power and about 60nm of torque and most here with the D4D motor who may have had the older 1kz motor previous will tell you that the newer motor is a better performer.The older motor may be cheaper to repair [injection system ] than the new common rail, but needs 5000km services as opposed to 10000km with D4D.I have the older model and have been happy with it but i always look at that D4D badge with envy.

Gday again.

Well after a few months of looking back and forth and some meetings with some not so legit dealers we have just today bought a 08 GXL D4D 6 speed manual. If anyone is in the market stay away from SUV Sales. Only after we had been there did we find out about all the airtime they have had on today tonight.

Hopefully over the next few months I will have a post in the rig builds section.

Congrats on your purchase,i think you will be happy.
Along with many private sales that are located in Sydney south west,that dealer is one i would stay clear of,along with the wrecking yard 3WJ that are related to them.
