  • Which one Km's or Spec's ?

    Hi All,

I thought i'd put a question out to the masses, to ask on your knowledge and experiece. I am currently looking at either a 2008 D4D manual GXL with 178,000 on the clock asking for $39K on the road or a 2008 D4D manual GX with 93,000 on the clock asking for $38K on the road. Now I haven't seen the condition of them in the skin but which one would people go for, KM over specs or vice versa.

    Thanks
    Nick

GX, as the options missing isn't that big of deal.

Depends how many future km you are going to put in it. If you are going to use it a lot, then go for the low mileage car.

However, you might want to check if the GX has the option packs ticked. It may have more safety features than you think and might be closer in line with a GXL.

Service history would have to weigh into this one big time I would suggest.....

Check out to see if any option pack fitted think one or two is available. Also service history, if either look a bit dodgy I wouldnt touch them. Id rather a higher klm one thats been serviced then a low klm with no service history. Resale could be an issue if you decide to do big klms as well on top of the one with higher klms to start with, few years time and you will have 300 on it and would be hard to off load at a reasonable price. Id rather the GX with lower klms but it also depends on what creature comforts you want if the GX doesnt have either upgrade pack..........Cheers Steve

I went through the same thing just a few months back when I bought mine, as well as the V6 vs D4D price differences. I didn't think that the small differences between GX and GXL were an issue (I never really thought I would even notice what was missing once I had bought it). The D4D vs V6 is well covered with all fuel consumptions and working out how long it takes to make back the difference in price and all that. The KM's along with the service history for me was the most important. I wanted to buy it for long term so I could spend the money to set it up and I planned on putting a lot of KM's on it, so I didn't want to buy one that already had a lot of k's on it, and I wanted to know it had been taken care of.

After all the research and working out the best way to go I got a 2008 D4D with 85,000ks, full service history, ARB deluxe bar with rallye 4000s and spent 4k more than my original budget. It was definitely worth it for me. I'm sure all this probably won't help but I just thought I'd share my recent experiences.
