  • Buying a 150 series

I'm wondering if this is a good deal on a 2009 Kakadu?

    << link removed >>

I know private would probably be cheaper but this one has fairly low K's and seems to have all the fruit. I can't afford the same spec new, I only have 2002 VX 90 series with 93K on the clock to trade.

I know I could buy a GXL and spec it up but that won't give me everything the Kakadu has.

Edit: Link doesn't seem to go direct to the car in question but if you search on Stock No. 35981 you will find it.

That stock number doesn't seem to exist. A new one will set you back at least $80K-$85K.

For used valuations have a look at carsales.com or redbook: http://www.carsales.com.au/car-valuations/

If you choose "refine search" and then change the Category to Used Cars it will work, I just tried it. I know what a new one will cost, just wondered if this used one is good value considering the age, KMs, and features.

Ok, I see it now. $63,950 for a 2009 V6 Kakadu with 41,438Km. If you'd care to check the carsales valuation link in my previous post, a 2009 V6 Kakadu is worth between $59,200 to $64,600 at a private sale with an average of 45,000 to 75,000Km.

The mileage is good, the price is fair and if the accessories fitted are what you want, that's a bonus. Looks like a good buy to me as long as the condition is good, it has been regularly serviced and hasn't been written off or abused.

Hubby likes the Kakadu but we could only have an outside look as the dealer was shut today. Looking at other examples on CarSales it does seem to be a fair price, the tyres even still had the tell-tales on them.

We pick up the Kakadu on Friday, they just have to swap over some gear from my old 90 and re-wash it, etc. I got to take it home last night for a sleepover LOL. It will be sort of sad to wave goodbye to the 90, she has served us well for 10 years and probably still has lots of life left in her. I'm kicking myself for changing the tyres 6 months ago though, you never get that back in re-sale.

Yes I did all right, would have been nice to squeeze more of a trade-in out of them though. They dropped the price a little to get me over the line rather than up the trade-in but it's changeover price that really matters at the end of the day.

ETA: Avatar pic is a bit small so here's a larger one :-

That Kakadu of yours looks tough.
I really like the look of the wheels painted black.

Well done, I'm sure you are pleased with your purchase!

                    Cheers,

Hubby isn't so keen but is warming to it I think. It took me a while to realise but I think these are factory rims that have been powder coated black, thought they were aftermarket ones originally. I'm a little disappointed the spare is a factory tyre but since our old 90 had the same arrangement can't really complain. My only concern is that we can't do a 5 way rotation now and the BFG's are seriously chunky tyres that I suspect will wear faster than the Duelers on my 90.

Congrats on your new purchase, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how the BFG tyres wear. I'm not surprised that the trade in they offered was less than inspiring, but as you said it's the total changeover price that matters. I'm glad I could help

BTW, I was hoping someone could tell me what the aerial is on the bar in my pic (sorry I didn't get a front on pic before they removed the listing from their site). The UHF itself is an Icom IC440, I'm just not sure about the little stumpy whip antenna specs.
