Opinions please, buying a high km 90 series diesel.

Please see the above link. I would appreciate opinions on whether or not this is worth the risk with such high k's.

It will mostly be used for the school run and shopping, with the odd camping trip. No more than 15,000 k's a year, and I'm only expecting to keep it for 2 years, 3 at the most.

I'm a good home mechanic, having built up modified Sierras as well as turbo imports in the past , but this will be my first diesel vehicle.

Gday mate, My opinion would be, for that coin you would find plenty around with half those kays on, I live in the same region as you and found plenty of 2000/01/02 models around 180 000klms for around 10k when I was looking, sunshine coast daily, trading post, gumtree, at the end of the day the decision lies with you, but 400 000 IS a lot of kays, you put another 30 on it over the next 2 years, she,d be nigh on unsellable for anything above a couple grand, those sorts of kays I wouldn't even look, but if it did, it would be worth about 4k to me. None of the extra,s listed outweigh the price of a rebuild/replacement motor, or the time spent scratching ya head in the middle of the bush waiting for a towie. best of luck on your search.

I should mention that the budget is strictly 11k, and that I'm not interested in a petrol.
