My first 120 Series Prado

Hi All
I'm a greenhorn to this great forum and have decided to buy a Black 2004 GXL Petrol Auto from a mate who wants 18k. It's done 120k and had Toyota servicing all its life. He's just put new Coopers on it too. I'm pretty sure it's a good deal but would appreciate the opinion of a few experts out there. Thanks!!

Mate you can't go wrong at that price with the klms and full service history.. 4 speed or 5 speed auto ??? Either way doesn't really matter sounds like a great buy as I'm sure others will agree.... Cheers Steve

Hi Timo71, welcome to Pradopoint. Pretty reasonable Klm's for an 04 Petrol and obviously the right colour . Providing as you say the servicing has been kept up to date as per the service schedule, you should be on a winner. Mate or no mate, get it checked out by either RAC WA or a trusted mechanic (perhaps some perth members can recommend someone?) Have a good look underneath to see how much "fun" it has had, checking for rust in such places as underneath the rear door seals etc... Also have you had a look on Car Sales to see comparable vehicles to be sure the price is about right or better for WA?

Good advice craigm, thanks. Sometimes one can be too trusting. It seems I've lived on carsales for the last few weeks checking out comparisons and it confirms what you guys say. I think it's a good deal. I know it's had a little bit of "fun" because I was there!! It's mainly been a town car though. Pick it up this weekend, will let you know how it goes.

It is pretty easy to tell

5 speed when you look at the shifter will go D, 4,3,2,1
4 speed when you look at the shifter will go D 3,2,1

Yep, it's a 5 speed.
