Despite it being legal (unconfirmed) I wouldn't wouldn't want that ride quality.

Also, thats a lot of Ks for a 3yo car.... and I would think a lot of money for those Ks. I'm sure you've been given the "highway Ks" story. In my opinion, no such thing. It's gonna hurt your resale value. Especially petrol.
I agree with you. But I couldn't find anything near to this price and model..that's why I am compromised in high kms

Is there a reason you want a 4x4 with no intentions of going off road? a lot of the money your spending on this car is purchasing off road functionality. This will be reflected in your purchase price, fuel bill and ongoing maintenance costs.

Far be it from me to tell you what car to get but if money is an issue then a 4x4 may not be suited to you? If you like the idea of an SUV what about a soft roader? So much more luxury, better ride, better economy, better maintenance costs better everything, probably even safer!

The main reason we are going is the size. Since I am having twins most of the other SUVs have no way to access the third row through inside(with two child seats in second row).

Next option is to access via boot..when I tried most of the SUVs and found Prado has the better height that will help an adult to get in to the third row. (my in-laws are coming in Nov)

Fuel economy wise kluger or cx7 is same as that of Prado..then I thought why not...

Moreover I am a fan of toyota prado from the childhood and this is the dream come true for me..If I buy..

For sure man, sure you have your reasons and those would be enough for me also!.....ignore the fuel economy being the same as CX-7 and Kluger. The numbers lie!

As for your in-laws.... about 3 months right?

I hope Prado gives minimum 16L/100 in normal road conditions..Right?

father in law may leave within 3 months but mother in law will be with us around an year.

then my parents will come..we need some helping hand for next few years.

Look I am a beginner in four wheel drive world..forgive if I am silly..

Ranj, disagree with your comment on rattling etc, I'm on my 3rd Prado and the 120 would be the smoothest ride I've had. This is with LT tyres 2 inch lift bullbar etc. for a 40k plus car he's intending on spending it wouldn't want to have rattles. There are plenty of people on here who have a rattle in their back seats and it drives them nuts till they fix it so its certainly not to be expected. Even with 20 inch wheels yes the ride will be firmer no doubt as you lose the flexibility of the higher profile rubber but still rough ride etc shouldn't be excessive. Maybe the 100 thou on the clock lalsyd is a very hard 100 thou and the suspension is shagged ??? Do you know the history of the vehicle ??? Can you contact the original owners to find out some more info ??? If your not happy with it walk away. 17,19, even 20 inch wheels the Prado should be riding better then your commenting. Also going from 18 inch to 20 will probably zap some power also.. In regards to difference you test drive an 08 which would have been a 120 ?? I have driven a 150 V6 and it feels to me like my 120 is quicker off the mark and seemed to have more torque then what the specs say a 150 should have ??? Also some one on here has a V6 150 and reckons there torque was alot better for towing with there old 120 compared to there 150. He was talking of doing an exhaust system to see if he could get some more torque lower down in the rev range like his 120 petrol had but never heard/read anymore on it..... In saying that i would still have a 150 V6 ....Cheers Steve m

I wouldn't put an adult in the Prado's 3rd row, especially a not so agile in-law. There are better people movers out there. Some have 2 seats in the 2nd row to allow walk through access to the 3rd row (Grand carnival and Tarago comes to mind). Also look at vehicles with anchor points/ISOFIX in the 3rd row (Grand Carnival and Territory comes to mind) so the babies can go in the 3rd row.

Yes Steve I was test driving 120 series grande with 85K on clock and that dealer was not reducing any $ from 42K. So I felt that was powerful than 150 one I am talking about now.

This car got single owner full service history in the same dealership.

Regarding tyres my dealer called me back and said it has fitted from Bob Janes (alignment also done dere..) and he checked with his service department and they told it meets "Rita specs" and Toyota guidelines as well. since he offered new two tyres in front he told that he will give to bob jane to do the wheel alighment as well.

He promised me that since he is giving one year warranty if I feel any issue in the first 3 months he will fix it. Even my MTA mechanic who inspected also told nothing to worry to buy that one.

I feel very good about this dealership especially clearing all my doubts immediately and willing to go and buy it..

                    what you guys think.

Me and my wife hate people mover or van look. eventhough fuel economy of Prado is less I won't make many kilometers per year. so not that much problem. our plan is to carry all our passengers with double pram comfortably with style.

I agree with amts in regards to in law/s in third row rear seat, would be very uncomfortable and very hard for a person there age to climb in and out. Don't think for a minute the Prado is the same as a Kluger in economy. The Kluger is a lot better then the Prado. We have a few here in our work fleet and they always show lower usage then a Prado would. May I ask what dealer ship you buying from ?? Lander Toyota ??.... Cheers Steve

my mother in law is not that old (54) and very active as well.

In Kluger the third row seat till 2010 is a bench seat..even there is one person we need to keep full seat. (Then no room for pram or other stuff)

Territory is also same. bench seat for a new model as well.

Regarding dealer name, it is clintonstoyota CAMPBELLTOWN

It's still a big step to get into the boot. How tall is your MIL and how big are her shoes? The reason for asking is that my 10y.o. boy can't fit in the 3rd row anymore, well at least not comfortably for long trips. The 3rd row seat is low to the floor (i.e. sit knees up) and the footwell is not that long (so his toes point outwards and his heels come together, like a ballerina).

For me, it's a respect thing and I will never ask the oldies to sit in the 3rd row. Thankfully, the other members of my family are happy to sit back there.

Understand your issue with bench seat a pajero is the same. Prado is the choice for you by the sounds of it if you don't like the van style of people movers. BUT don't believe everything the sales man tell you, mate once they have your hard earned $$$ they won't give a shit just palm you off to service who again won't really give a toss either. If your not happy with it or your sus about it then maybe your gut feeling is write. I certainly wouldn't be handing over 40K on some thing I wasn't 100% with and certainly not some thing that doesn't feel right and has rattles, just my opinion but I would be demanding every rattle be fixed cause once you drive off with it those rattles will be your problem rest assured...... Cheers Steve ps sorry hope I didn't offend in regards to mother in laws age !!
