It's still a big step to get into the boot. How tall is your MIL and how big are her shoes? The reason for asking is that my 10y.o. boy can't fit in the 3rd row anymore, well at least not comfortably for long trips. The 3rd row seat is low to the floor (i.e. sit knees up) and the footwell is not that long (so his toes point outwards and his heels come together, like a ballerina).

For me, it's a respect thing and I will never ask the oldies to sit in the 3rd row. Thankfully, the other members of my family are happy to sit back there.

When we took delivery, our younger son (16 at the time) was keen to sit in the back. He quickly realised it was third class back there and he helped me remove the seats, having no interest in sitting in a sit up and beg situation. I think they'd be fine for kids out of boosters until maybe 10.

If I asked my MIL to sit back there, she'd be laughing, thinking I was making a joke. And I would be.

I think its clear we think its probably a mistake. The wheels, the ride, the cramped rear seat, the fuel consumption; Buying a 4WD to drive around the burbs.

Don't believe the dealer!

By all means, if you just want to buy this Prado anyway, go ahead! At those km's it's got plenty of life in it yet

My MIL is around 5.1 feet and my wife is 5.2 feet. I think both of them can sit alternately. when her father is gone then we all can sit in second row with a good boot and stylish ride..from outside none of my friends can say it is not new.. hmmm

My wife was telling from the beginning about Prado and she hates people mover and even kluger.

So I want to give one good gift to her what she is mad about for delivering my twin babies normally by suffering labour pain for 26 hours..I cant forget that day in my life

my plan is to keep this car for the next 7 years within that time I would have gone only 7 * 6000 = 42K kms. So at that time 10 year old car with 150K kms will not loose much value I hope..hmmm

I agree with you guys this time we are going with our heart not with our brain. we both love the style of prado.

Look I am planning for drives like Sydney to gold coast, Canberra and all. Once my babies are changed to front facing child seats we will go for some travelling. (camping also in my plans for the future)

Since my current corolla can't fit a adult in the second row with two child seats we have to upgrade (even putting our double pram no room for any lugguage in our boot)..I am checking all the SUVs for the last 6 months..I am tired..finally found this one..

what are things I have to check before driving home

Hi Guys,

Finally I bought the same 2010 Prado GRJ150R VX Sports Automatic (108K on clock) and getting on this Sunday.

Since this is my first Prado (first four wheel drive) please advise what are things I have to check before driving home.

I have done third party check by MTA and got checked the brand 2 new tyres & driven on last sunday to make sure dealer has fixed everthing they promised.
They already done the 110K Km service as well. They offered full tank of fuel in both the tanks.

They are giving one year extra warranty with it and asked me $500 for extra two years warranty. Is that worth to pay? Just for the peace of mind??
They are telling which will cover even if I service with any licensed mechanic.

since this dealer is far away from my home I will be giving to the local dealer for the service but they are not giving any warranty for that.
They are asking $1500 for 3 years warranty eventhough I am servicing in their place.

For the resale value only I am planning to do it in Toyota dealer. Is any other place offer better service with cheap price.

If the warranty is the Toyota extracare warranty (expect to pay around $1750) then it is worthwhile however if it is a dealer offered 'insurance style' warranty my view is you are better off keeping the money. As for your other questions they are best answered by a local.

The contract says "one year 150000 extended warranty ins" so I feel it is just an insurance style..

Moreover what are the tools I should verify whether it exists in the boot door or somewhere else..

it has got a tow bar. do we need any special tools to remove it..

Hmm response lost in cyber space between Akihabara and wherever. Check the fine print on the warranty. It may require work only at the dealer nominated and also limit the scope and value of claims, for example not include labour or limit claims to $1,500 per claim etc. Better off without it in that case. As for the tools there isn't much there. Make sure you have all the bits for the jack and wheel nuts. The towbar is a pin and R clip arrangement so no tools unless it has a bolt to stop the hitch rattling in the bar. Then it is a 13mm spanner or shifter.

What was the end result with the wheel query? I had oversized tyres on my Kakadu when purchased, the dealer ended up swapping them for new all terrain tyres in the correct size as per the tyre placard. Don't know what the regs are for wheels but depending on what tyre size they have on them you may find you've gone over the allowable outer diameter limit.

OK fair enough. I'm not sure having low profile tyres on a 4WD is a good idea but for purely bitumen driving you might get away with it.

Range Rover Sports run 275/50 20 so not much different. Not my cup of tea but on the black top most likely ok. Could be a bit harsh but maybe not. You will definitely need other rims 17s or 18s) and tyres for proper off road use.
