  • Advice and experiences: Ex rental / mining

    Hi team,

I'm new to the forums and have been trolling through previous posts. I'm looking at spending around $30,000 and have two options, i would really appreciate any advice or experiences

    (1) 2010 GX from a hire company up North (where I live). Around 90,000kms with full log book service history.

    (2) 2005 - 2008 GXL from the general market in Perth. Generally around 100,000 to 130,000 kms.

I have decided to go with a turbo diesel.

I want a car to keep for the next 10 years so I need to be in good shape with a service history, obviously an ex hire car has its risks but its good value. There are risks with all cars right?

Also, I will be getting a pre-purchase inspection done. Can anyone recommend specifics I should be asking to be covered by the inspection?

    Thanks in advance

Hey suave, do a bit of a search on both topics, recently both have had some good reads on here. If I can find them tomorrow I'll post them up.

I took mine to Robson Brothers for prepurchase inspection. They seem to do an ok job, and have a good reputation.

            Suave,

I bought my 2010 GX diesel from pickles auctions in Balcatta about 4 months ago, had 46,000km on the clock and picked it up for $33,000. I had been looking for quite a while though and finally came across this one. I am a diesel mechanic by trade so didn't have to go through the inspection process as I did that myself.

I would highly recommend getting getting a 3rd party to look at the vehicle, just as a final check if you are not 100% sure yourself.

I've done 3000km so far and she's running great!! Hope this gives u a little more help !!

            Andrew

              Hi Suave,

              some food for thaught,

I recently bought a 150 series from NSW. It is a GXL with 2 in lift, dual batteries and snorkel for $40000 with 100000 km on it. I would suggest looking over east for a 2nd hand one, they seem to go for a lot less over there as they don't seem to pay the pilbara price everyone in WA seems to enjoy.

              Lee.
