Buying a new facelift 150 series

We've had our GX auto for 2 weeks now and more than happy with it. $53,900 drive away bog stock no extras.
Busy now looking at all the good stuff to put on. Would appreciate any info and advice.

a great blank canvas, Scoota! Mine was relatively stock too upon delivery then have slowly built up for touring and 9months in we're about to do our first real trip. Depending on what you want to use the car for, what you're willing to comprimise and of course budget, there is an almost endless choice of add-ons and mods for your truck.

Keep trawling through these forums like i did and you'll surely pick up useful info and advice from the members more learned than me here!

Just picked mine up. a July build 2014 GXL D4D/ Silver in colour, front two windows tinted, Genuine Cargo Barrier and also front park assist and paid $59,960 in Auto... very happy with that price!

I also decided to bite the bullet and also order the ARB kit at the same time.. Cooper ST MAXX Tyres, OME Suspension, ARB Bar, Winch, LED spotties, Snorkel, duel battery, UHF Rhino Pioneer Rack up top + a andersoon plug and two 12v plugs in rear for lights and fridge.

The wife loves it and I am eager to take off road!!!

Did you order the ARB kit from ARB or via the dealer? Was it a Warn winch? If so then with all those bits I'm pretty sure you qualify for the free Milwaukee tool kit promotion, I know it's been extended via ARB stores till end of September.

My 120 leaves me tomorrow after 7 years of service, to be replaced by a 150 series currently in transit to Oz. Only problem I had with it was a rusty sunroof, which i had replaced.

Armed with the price info found in this thread I was able to purchase a new plain vanilla GX auto diesel with absolutely no extras today at $54,250 locally in NSW for delivery in November. Far cry from the Subaru Outback I set out to buy a week ago to replace a VW Passat. Will go easy on options first and see what I really need. Towbar , heavy duty roof rails and parking sensors front and rear is all that will go up initially.

Hopefully picking up our new car today! We're getting a white GXL Auto diesel from Sydney dealer for $62750 including business rego, Toyota towbar & 3 year factory warranty extension/6 year roadside assistance. Toyota finance at 4.99%.

Hi all,

Firstly, this is a great forum and has helped bucket loads already when it comes to my inevitable Prado purchase. We'll done and I look forward to being a part of it.

I return to Oz (Canberra) in January and will have 10 days to purchase a new Prado before getting some aftermarket accessories thrown on. Problem is there is only one Toyota dealer with a number of dealerships scattered around.

I am after a white or silver Prado and from what I've read so far, $59k is a fair drive away price. I have emailed 4 car brokers requesting prices on a MY14 model with a late 2014 build date and preferably a 2015 compliance plate. Obviously I'm hoping to get a better deal buying a previous year model. Car brokers were used as I'm OS.

Advice I would appreciate is, am I going about it the right way to get the best deal, should I try to get a MY15 with a 2014 build date or, should I be patient and get one with 2015 everything.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I don't want to stuff this up as I've never spent so much on anything other than a house.

congrats on the purchase. I'm in the middle of sorting out a deal now with $60,500 being the best so far for a nov build and dec compliance plated auto td GXL MY14. No extras other than carlet floor mats.

Does yours have the "drone" some have talking about here and, are the front windows tinted or not?

Hi,

I got mine last Feb and it doesn't drone. I've put a few accessories on it, Bulbar, winch lights, Dual batteries, air comp and OME suspension recently but it's always cruised nicely. Your question on whether to buy now or wait really depends on how log you're planning on keeping it? If your keeping it a long time and will put a lot of Klm's on it then it won't matter but if your going to turn it in a relatively short time then a 2015 compliance will get you a bit more on resale. Keep in mind dealerships will be likely to discount a 2014 complied car as it will be "old" next month.

If you want a 2105 compliance plate then you have to wait until 2015 as its complied when its "made ready for sale" but you may get a 2015 Year model with a 2014 compliance plate now.
Me -I would get one asap as when Ive made up my mind to buy a new toy I want it now or sooner, but thats just me.

It came up as a "today" post when I made the comment, today it shows as "yesterday". I thought a dealer open on Christmas Day was odd but with car sales numbers being down anything is possible :-)
