Guys
Am in the market for a new prado - either the VX or the Kakadu. Things is it's a big price differential between the two - just wondering if anyone else and has gone through the pro's and con's of each and what accessories you got as part of the package - the plan is to use ti to carry the brats during the week and the camper trailer on the weekend!
Thanks
Baz

Both are really nice vehicle, I got the GXL for $60k and the Kakadu was close to $100k when I paid for mine last year (the VX didn't interest me). To be honest I do not believe the Kakadu is worth $100k. For the price tag I would rather purchase a Land Rover Discovery 4 Series 4 SDV6 HSE Sports Automatic. A friend of mine bought the VX and now he is kicking himself because he's been in mine (big price difference). If you have the cash and your heart is set to a Prado purchase the Kakadu (crawl control and KDSS).
Every time I purchase something new I go through a very detailed planning process (money does not grow on trees but sometimes I wish it does), it has taken me close to a year to replace my beloved car. At the end of the day Prado drivers are always going to be looking for that tag (Kakadu), drive the top of the line Prado and modify the hell out of it and make sure you have a Conqueror UEV 490 as your camper trailer (my dream off road camper).

so if kakadu comes with a pnuematic suspension (i suppose that is what kdss is), then test drive the kakdu and vx back to back and then decide. other things are pureley cosmetic but air cushion ride is worth paying extra money.
talking about discovery, as an ex discovery owner all i can say is that discovery service will cost you approx 4 times more that prado, and it would no way be as reliable as prado.

wow. I was quoted $62500 for a 13 model with towbar this morning. told the dealer about the prices you guys are quoting, he said that Eastern States onroad costs are cheaper but there shouldn't be any difference in the car prices. I told him there's no way i'll pay that for a 13 and to see what he could do on a 14 !
also there are no 14 models in stock due to the 1% finance...

$58,500 drive away with carpet floor mats thrown in, could get all other accessories cheaper myself at trade price through local dealership. I did not use the dealer we use for work to buy the car due to a difference of opinion between myself and the sales manager.Silver 150 Facelift
TJM Bullbar, Lightforce Genisis Spots, Dual Battery System with bits from everyone, Powerful 4x4 slider/steps, Kaymar rear bar, "Genuine" Roof Racks, MSA Seatcovers, Dashmat, Tint, LED Interior Globes, Bridgestone D697s

I bought a DSL WGN A/T GXL 2014 from Bunbury Toyota (Mark Docking) last Friday and paid $64,477 which I thought was very reasonable for WA prices. Included in that was
Headlight covers
Bonnet protector
Front weather shields
Cargo mat
Seat covers for the front and rear
Dash mat
Tinted windows
All weather floor mats through out
I'm just about to start my new build as I've done a few mods since last week but am still undecided about which bullbar to put on it with the new front end
