  • Selling my GXL

    I'm selling my 2012 GXL
I've changed jobs and it just isn't practical anymore. I'm looking at getting a hilux.
My question is what should I be hopping to get for it (selling it privately) ?
    2012 model
    86000km
It has a few accessories fitted - bull bar, rack, duel batt, tow bar, spot lights, winch, 5 good tyres...
It is pretty good condition, no dings, but the boot area has scratches (plastic scratches), service history.
The below link was the car new.

Any help would be much appreciated
    Thanks..

Mate, have a squiz at carsales and see what similar vehicles without accessories are getting, and then add some from there. If your bar cost 2k, then I wouldn't be adding 2k to the sale price, but overall, you should be able to recover a reasonable proportion of the accessories if you do the base + accessories calcs. You are selling your car to a different market than most. There are buyers out there who are waiting for well set up vehicles as it saves them the hassle. Good luck.

I just checked out your link, nice looking beast (white mamba). My original plan was to buy a Hilux but you want to know what my worst mistake was... I bloody took a Prado for a test drive after I drove the Lux. I believe a reasonable price for your vehicle would sell between $46k - $52k, or you could be one those people who would ask for pretty much the cost price for the vehicle with accessories.
When I was looking around for a Hilux, I would've got a brand new one in black for $46k and they were selling a few black one's on Carsales.com between $52k - $56k (with accessories). At the end of the day, give it a reasonable price if you are in a hurry to sell it and if not give it a a cost price or close to it with accessories. Happy selling and good luck!

In addition to my last, it is a manual... It's so much easier to drive off road with an auto (it is an auto market now). Most of the 4x4 ($60k+) buyers are old farts and they have weak bones hence why they need an auto.

Hehe... don't worry we all get to that stage. My old's walk like a penguin because they have swollen legs/ankles, before I can get to that stage I want to take my family to a few unforgettable camping trip. That is why I had to sacrifice my love for sports car into an SUV, my partner wanted a Kluger Grande and I wanted a Hilux and that equals to a damn fine beast... the Prado.

Redbook.com.au will give you a good idea of the sale price. Select research.

i think just play the waiting game, now that interest rates are low people are buying new cars as opposed to older vehicles. I am a finance broker and this is what we are seeing in the market, unfortunately used cars have taken a bit of a tumble because of this.

if you need to sell it quick drop the price, if not just be persistent someone will buy it

                        Hi,

I just bought a D4D GXL and got it for under 60k with tint, tow bar, mats, headlight covers, bonnet protector and rear tray. I personally wouldn't buy a 2 year old car to save less that 10k. The rule for me is take 25% off the minute it drives out the driveway the first time and keep going each year and more if it's high mileage or worked hard.

Just my opinion, hope you get what you want
