  • First 4x4, first Prado. Hint, tips, suggestions?

    Hi folks.

Well as the title says, I'm on track to getting my first Prado.

Having grown up as a country kid, I've always wanted a decent set of wheels under me. Relocation and life dictated small run-abouts were as good as it was going to get.
Finally in a position where I can have my own fourby, the old man has sourced something in my budget.

Soon to be heading my way is a 2005 VX (experience probably tells you the rest..) 4cyl, auto, diesel. Roughly 230 000 on the clock.
At first I thought that a lot of k's but being diesel it's not such a huge factor and I've been assured it's been looked after/serviced for it's entire life (plus having my Dad give it a thorough looking at eases my mind).

I'm curious what thoughts, hints, tips, advice etc. that anyone's experience can give?

    Thanks, Alexis

    Hi Alexis.

You should love the VX. The 120's are a great vehicle.
230,000kms is no worries if it has been looked after as you said. They will last more than double that engine wise if looked after.
I would recommend oil changes every 5,000kms on the Diesel & just have everything looked over when you get it & make sure there is nothing needing attention.
Keep us posted & put up a pic when you get it.

    Regards, Jason.
