  • How can you Test Drive a Diesel in QLD when no one has one

Have ordered a new GXL Diesel but here in Central Queensland in Gladstone, Rocky and Bundaberg none of the the Toyota Delears have had a diesel in stock for months for you to test drive.

    Mick,

I believe there are a few in Brisbane. May cost a bit flying down but it's worth it.

Do what I did. Buy one without test driving it first. I figure if there's a site like this dedicated to them, they have to be an awesome piece of kit

        Mick,
I ordered mine on the recommendation of a friend , without a test drive . Then I read all the rave posts from the forum, which gave me confidence i was getting something special

Everyone was spot on, best vehicle I have owned.

The only other thing would be to drive a V6 one to get an indication of how they handle and driver feel etc.

Like already posted, try Brisbane. A few dealers there had some when I was looking around.

Motorama 4X4XMore in Salisbury were EXTREMELY helpful, and answered all my questions happily and honestly. Even gave me a good look at accessories and recommended items to add to my Prado.

I took a V6 auto for a test drive to get a feel of the car and its suspension/steering. Also wanted to see all the gadgets and gizmos that they had.
We already had a hilux at work with the D4D in it and it had a crappy 5 speed manual, so I kinda had a feel for the driveline.
Having said that, if the Prado had a 5 speed box like the Hilux's I would not have bought it. The six speed box is fantastic and feels so much better than the 5 speed.
