  • What do you think..Diesel Vx or GXL Petrol?

    Hi all

Tearing our hair out trying to decide between a used 2011 GXL petrol with really low k's or a used 2011 VX Diesel with average K's. The GXL is about $5500 cheaper.

Help us decide which is better. Money is an issue for us :-)

    Thanks for your suggestions

That's a hard call. Lower k's are a bonus. I personally like the diesel, but if $ are tight I would probably go with the GXL.
They're both Prados after all, so you shouldn't have too many issues, particularly with the petrol.

Are you going to be using it for remote outback travel and towing?

      If no, petrol
      If yes, diesel

It will be a city car with occasional beach use.

Petrol it is then. Use the left over $ for a dual battery system, fridge and awning for when you're on the beach

x2. You don't want to be forking out @2.5k every 80K kms to baby sit your injectors for very occasional 4wd use. These new CRD's are not like the diesel engines of old!!

FYI - Some diesel vs petrol calculations are here link - in summary, by the time you factor in injector replacement cost the fuel consumption benefit is virtually eliminated. Then it comes back to resale or intended use of vehicle.

Unless you are doing alot of towing or high kms, or trade in often then petrol is the safer often.
