Against popular belief a 2.8 prado costs the dealer the same as a 3.0 did, so the prices should be the same. $59,800 is awesome for an auto not on runout or anything else, I paid $58,500 for a silver GXL manual in March 2014, and could get the same price tomorrow for the same car but in 2.8 if I wanted.

Don't be too sad, I bet you went on a test drive or two, went back and forth a few times, possibly got finance through the dealer, probably got extras like mats, tow bar, headlight protectors, etc. To get that sort of price you literally walk in, drop the deposit and walk out, come back when the car is ready with a bank cheque for the remainder and drive away. All the "fluff" of buying a new car comes at a cost.Originally posted by tiwana View PostOk... it seems i paid more than i should have :-([LEFT]Silver 150 Facelift

Yes Andy. I understand. Sad part is ... I could have easily done "no fluff" approach. But I didn't. First time I wanted Prado was Saturday morning. I did go to the dealer .. did take it out for a drive... more for the missus ... cause she needs to feel comfortable. Later that evening ... i bought it.Originally posted by AussieAndy View PostDon't be too sad, I bet you went on a test drive or two, went back and forth a few times, possibly got finance through the dealer, probably got extras like mats, tow bar, headlight protectors, etc. To get that sort of price you literally walk in, drop the deposit and walk out, come back when the car is ready with a bank cheque for the remainder and drive away. I discovered this site after I bought it - that is because I never knew I will buy a Prado. I could have done the no-fluff scenario but that comes only after one knows what a "good price" is. That intel i got when i got to be a "Lurker" here - after the Prado was bought.

tiwana,
You got a good price considering the accessories included.
I'm sure "the walk in, drop a deposit, and walk out approach...and then pay the balance with a bank cheque"... works for some people...but its not they way some folk like to shop for a car, and its not the way some folk can shop for a car...especially if you are not sure what you want. Have no doubts, you did in fact get a good deal...and you may not have done any better on that car with those accessories...despite whatever purchasing technique was used...enjoy!

We paid 62k for a gxl 2.8l with tow bar, floor mats/rear cargo mat 2 year ext warranty.
The thing I found was just because 1 dealer was cheaper for car price didnt mean loan repayment was.
For example we loaned 60k for car on chattle mortgage business loan and got 4.3% intrest rate when comparing weekly repayments thats when you tell the true cost of the car not the purchase price unless you go in paying cash$$$$$Arb colour code deluxe bar, safari snorkel, lightforce venom HID's, GME uhf remote face, redarc tow pro, redarc bcdc 1240, pioneer platform, 40" curved light bar, dual battery, 3" SS exhaust, EGR mod, trans cooler upgrade, provent catch can, scangauge 2, diesel care secondary fuel filter, Tin's bash plates and actuator gaurd, 2in Bilstien and kings lift,

In my experience (well friends and family) when financing a new Toyota, Toyota finance is always very good. When financing a used Toyota they are even usually good. The best finance I have ever found though is the redraw facility on the house

It certainly sounds good. The interest rate is generally lower than what one would get from the Big 4's. However, if one reads the Terms and Conditions the following two clauses stare and that makes me uncomfortable. The difference between the payments is not that great considering the amount to be financed.
Page 4 of 12 - Para 3.2 - Point 2 "the Credit Provider may vary the amount, frequency and number of repayments, the time for repayments and the loan term without your consent."
Page 4 of 12 - Para 5.3 "The Credit Provider may vary the amount, frequency and time for payment of the credit fees and charges and impose new credit fees and charges without notice to you or your consent."
