  • Did I give them the right advice?

So my sister and partner has just purchased a 120 GXL. To me, it's a bit of an oddball right in that it's very well setup with OEM bullbar, large diameter driving lights, load balancing hitch, dual battery setup and potentially trailer brake still fitted.

    Gorgeous condition inside and out.
    It's a 2009 automatic diesel.

Why is it an oddball? Because it's setup so well for camping and towing yet only has 64,xxxkms that are genuine. They paid 39,000 on the road with 12months reg from a non toyota dealer.

My advice was that even though with simolar money you could get into a 150, the KMs would be through the roof And that if they love the car (which they did) and they are happy with the dealer and are fine with the price then it's a good buy. This car should last for years with the upkeep of maintenance. But that's my opinion.

Maybe I'm having buyers remorse for them? Your thoughts?

Similar to my rig in age and mods with mine not yet at 80k. Maybe like me the original owners found it hard to find the time to use it properly hence the low kms.

    Cheers Jim.

It sounds like a bargain to me. I wouldn't hesitate. Just get the injectors checked some time soon to avoid any real disappointment,

        Hi,

39k for a 120 seems like top dollar + sum regardless of kms and condition IMO but hey if they are happy and its as good as you say thats all that counts.

Yeah I agree Ren... the question that I posed to them was does it feel like it's worth 39k? Because at the end of the day that's what matters right?

Personal ally I'd never spend 39 on a 120 but I'm lucky to be in the position where I can buy safely privately.

I paid $37,000 for my 2008 Prado 120 GXL in Sept 2013 with 110,000 kms and then spent $8000 getting it off road ready with dual batteries, lights, nav systems, TPMS, drawers, cage, fridge, recovery points, suspension lift and gear etc. Have had injectors done and a head job at 125,000.

It is a great vehicle and I love it. Just about to do a 12,000 km trip.

This sounds like a good buy as far as I am concerned.

High $30000's seem to be the going price for 2008/9 120series with sub 80000km on speedo when watching carsales.
I guess people are happy paying the price for the benefits of a 120s over the 150s.

Was thinking along the same lines.

Sounds like good value, and if your sister feels like it will do what they want then it's a winner!

Nice that a lot of the work is already done and they may find that extra fuel capacity useful
