  • Price drop for petrol Prado?

My mate was at the Perth motor show today and rang me to tell me that a guy on the Toyota stand says that the petrol prados will have a price drop on 1st May.
This is particually relevant to me as I have just signed for mine (although not yet paid deposit)
The price drop hes reporting is very significant, $6000 to be precise.

Apparently the GXL V6 auto (my order) will retail for $51,790
    Current price $57,790

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

That's great news for me. Here's hoping!

BUT, the diesel engine is not worth the $7K difference. Toyota are crazy-minded, arrogant folks.

I was contemplating being more rude... but refrained.

If it is true it would be more than likely due to the amount of spare petrols laying around in dealers.

They'd get rebated back from Toyota.

Yes but my point is that it might be a prelude to repositioning of the Petrol vs Diesel models for the new generation Prado, in similar vein to the price gap on the LC200.

I hope I'm wrong as the price disparity is laughable. Not that it worries me as the petrol will be our choice. I do feel sorry for those who believe that resale will go sharply south... but such is Toyota's discounting that they might not really sell the petrols for less... just advertise them that way to entice buyers into overstocked Prados.

I will know for definate tomorrow as I will pop in and see my dealer to sort out the finance.
They gave me $5k off the original price saying that Im actually getting a better than fleet discount. But if they sneakily already know about the $6k price drop then actually they are OVER charging me.
So if they sell me the Prado for the new price AND I get the fleet discount I should be paying around $48k (and pigs might fly)
                I will keep you posted........

Genuine fleet will be a lot more than that. I saved 15k with fleet.

There is also bronze, silver & Gold fleet available too.

Given the amount of prado's toyota sell i can't see them dropping the price(profit) by $6000 even if they do need to move a few petrol's. Even in brissie to move the 07 models were around 55-56k drive away.

55K drive away is a very good price imo, if I can achieve that on an 08 model I'll be well pleased.

                              Drive away price? No financing?

I have a recent quote this month for a petrol GXL. The "highlights" are:

                              Car $52,424
                              Silver paint $272
                              Bullbar $1,730
                              Towbar $427
                              Hello 400 compact spots $520
                              - Fitting $170
                              Ming window Tint $500
                              Delivery $1,380

                              SubT $57,423

At this point negotiate the discount as the rest is subject to the price of the car ....

                              GST $5,742
LCT $1,539 (cuts in at $57,009 incl GST)

                              Stamp Duty, Rego, CTP $3,000

                              Total cost $67,704.
                              2012 GXL Diesel Auto.
