How can I tell if a 120 GXL has the extra airbags/traction control option pack fitted?

Hi,

We're looking to buy a used Prado 120 and are looking at either a VX or the post 07 GXL with the options pack with the extra airbags & VSC etc fitted. My question is: how can we tell if the GXL has the option pack fitted? I'm getting confused, because I thought there would be labels for the side airbags, plus buttons for the VSC/TRC and that the 4wd selector stick was the same as the VX instead of the standard GXL one, but we looked at 2 second hand cars today advertised as having the option pack but neither had these features. One of the owners explained that the side curtain airbags are in the seats (she had special seat covers on which she said work with the airbags, but it meant I couldn't see the seat to see if there was any label, and it looked from the manual like there is still an airbag at the top of the front columns (ie next to the windscreen) as well but there was not label there). So I am wondering if the owners are getting confused or if I am?

Also, does the option pack include downhill assist? I've read conflicting reports.

There were 2 option packs.

If you are looking for that specific option pack that has traction control, etc, then the 2 Prados you saw don't have it. Just keep looking. They are quite rare though to have the option pack fitted.

Andrew is spot on, as usual. If it doesn't have the switches it doesn't have the pack. Keep looking.

See pics below (best I can find at this time of morning) A & C pillar have 'airbag' labels, DAC button on console = GXL with Option Pack 1. Seats also have a stitched 'airbag' label.

Weeeell. On the GX there were two. And the packs gave different add ons depending on the transmission.
