  • Selling the Prado

    Hi all,
I would like to get some feed back on what people think is the best way to sell the Prado. Looks like I might be moving to Indonesia before the end of the year and just trying to get some ideas. Like using ebay or using one of the car sales type web sites.

Also, do you think I would be better off striping the accessories and selling them separately?

    Cheers,
    Kevin

This forum would be a good place to start when you are ready to sell.

As for striping the accessories may be a good option if you are not getting the price you really want.

Well thats my 2 cents worth

Kevin just been through this exercise with my 90. I listed mine on carsales and shifted the car in under three weeks. Lots of interest. Listed here too but no responses.

Left the bits and pieces on mine as I updated accessories with the 120. Up to you, lots of people flog bits off separately but you have to ask is the effort of removing and making good any holes etc worth the additional return?

Bit wary of eBaY though and you pay a lot more $ to list whether it sells or not and you have a fixed time it is for sale, carsales was $70 (or thereabouts) for a premium ad and it runs until sold or you delete the ad.

Jeez Kev, it'll be sad to see you go. One less Prado in the Carins group is going to leave a big gap!

You can't put the Prado in storage? After all the great work she's had done on her it would be a shame to let her go.

If you do decide to strip it down, I'm sure you'll be able to offload your goodies to the local PP crew.

        Cheers,

Like Kevin, I have to sell my prado at the end of the year  as we are off to Singapore. carsales or the trading post look to be the best options.

                  Hi Kevin,
I sold my Subaru Forrester though carsales late last year and also shopped for my 2nd Hand Prado on there as well.
I didn't pay for a premium ad and it took about 4-5 weeks to sell. All I had to do to keep the ad current was log in once in a while. This also refreshed the date on the ad so people knew it was still current. You can change your text and photos as much as you want. Found it to be very easy way to sell.
Good luck with the sale and move.

                    Hi Kevin,

I just sold my 90 series TD last week using Cairns Post. Sold it in a week. From the interest, probably could have sold it 3 times as TD's are hard to get. I dont know how much value you get from internet listings when you live in Cns.

                    Cheers

Lets just say the grass wasn't green enough 8) And you have gotta love our roster.

We should be staying in Cairns for a at least a couple of more years yet.

Pity you guys weren't so active when I last went thru Cairns ... otherwise we could have stayed a bit longer and explored some of your beautiful country.

Still ... Bek reckons we're goin' back there ...... so brace ya'selves
