  • Collected my Prado 2 weeks ago. 2.8 GXL Auto, Silver pearl stock standard only with full tank of fuel and premium number plates. $ 60,000 in Sydney. Wouldn't even give me a set of mats at that price.

Thats a really good price, I bought GXL 3.0 end of oct for 58,200 at the time they didnt want to reduce the price on 2.8 below $67000. Feel like I should have waited for another month.

GLX is the Pajero and GXL is the Prado, hope you've got the right car

Initially I was interested in the 3.0 l but ended up with the 2.8. 3.0 l is still a good engine and you got a good price. Mate, the best thing for you to do now is don't think about the price and enjoy the Prado.

              • Old Prado has been sold and it's now time to order the new one.

Have been doing a bit of haggling and the best price I have so far is 60500 for auto with Window tint and tow bar in white.

After playing off a few dealers this seems to be close to the lowest they will go, but I think I can squeeze a few more accessories out of them!

                • I picked up a 2.8l auto GXL in white for $61500 including rubber mats all through, window tint, towbar and full tank.

Total price ended up being $70500 with colour coded arb deluxe bar, intensity lights, uhf, under body protection, recovery point, snorkel and old man emu 30mm lift. I'm pretty happy with the price and service I received.

                  • 2.8 D4D GX white 5 seat $54,000.
Add iron man bbar side steps and rails, EFS 50mm H/D suspension upgrade. Aero roof rails, factory tow kit, genuine floor mats, full tank, 1yr rego.
                    Total $59,460.
GREAT 4x4 now with many GXL standard features and $7000 less out of my pocket

                    • Purchased GXL 2.8 Auto Diesel in graphite, tow bar, mats, full tank, 1 yr toyota roadside assist for 61K.

Added extras: front sensors, paint & interior protection, and tints for 1.6K. I wasn't planning on the protection as I heard your better off using a professional detailer, but when bundling it together with the other extras it doesnt seem a bad price. Plus they guarantee against bird droppings & tree saps etc...

So all up 62.6K which is a reasonable price considering they asked for 67K without options back in Oct.

I'm with you Beef Boss, IF you don't need the third row seats, the GX is not a bad way to go, with identical major features, as the more popular GXL version, but with a significant saving by going with the base model, even after adding accessories, you save quite a lot over the GXL version. I did up a summary table comparing the GX and GXL versions of the new 2.8 "GD" auto Prado. Its not exhaustive, but its a start. The lack of side steps, roof rails and fog lights on the GX model is no disadvantage if you are going to add a roof platform, a bull bar, and decent side steps (sliders). Without the third row seats (which we don't need) you gain a significantly lower rear cargo area floor height and more cargo area width, which is a bonus if you are adding drawers and a car fridge. I'll miss the climate control AC, (but the manual AC will be fine)... anyway, here is a start. It all depends on what you plan to do with your car and how many seats you need...I wonder if anyone else can see if there is anything else you don't get if you choose the new 2.8 L GX model instead of the new 2.8 L GXL model?

                          • Wow great work Brogers!
I have a Nov/ 2015 build Gx so ill guess the 2016 plate Gx has the electric lumbar support as i have manual. 85kg less kerb weight is a big advantage!
Ill add that your choice in coulers are limited with a Gx but i like white.
I feel that the Gx makes sence if you are going to BUILD UP a truely capable 4x4, its a blank canvas with good bone structureClick image for larger version

it was for the my16 model. However I just picked up a 11/14 model gxl for 47k with only 12000 km on the clock. Couldn't pass it up, the 13k saved is a heck of a lot of extras!
