  • Future Prado Body Shape

    Greetings - been a while!

I see the latest Prado with the 2.8L etc, is there any change predicted to the body shape of future Prado models?

I see the 'Platinum' have the wheel under chassis reducing fuel capacity - but not interested in that bad boy.

Due for an upgrade and dont want to purchase prematurely.

Wisdom and advice from this well-informed group appreciated.

    Regards

    Keeper

I suggest they change to something like this to then allow them to slot in a larger Cummins diesel as opposed to the 2.8 excuse for a detonating 3L

I've heard whispers of a possible "Hybrid" version for 2017...
Dont quote me though...I'll deny it!

At least give us the option of the V8 or a decent diesel. I think they will need to up the ante or they are going to find them selves way down the pecking order.
There is a lot more competition to the Prado out there now with more power, tow capacity that are cheaper and Toyota are losing the legendary reliability factor as well. People are starting to not see the value in Prados

Have you seen the latest 200 series. The headlights and grill have had an aggressive makeover but what the f*&% were they thinking with the cattle trough down the middle of the bonnet?

Marketers would be advising Toyota against releasing a V8 Prado as it would cost lots of sales to the Landcruiser market. I suspect they don't have a diesel Kluger for a similar reason, cost sales of Prados.

Just looked at some pictures of the new 200 on the Toyota website

I swear most manufacturers are in a race to build the ugliest car possible!

We are picking up a new car next week to replace Trish's Rav, getting a brand new Suzuki Grand Vitara, there were lots of reasons it was better for us than all the other SUV's on the market, but the fact it's a nice looking car is a huge bonus. We looked at all the Toyota SUV's except the 200, they all looked the same and we're all but ugly.

Surely they will do better with the 180

                      Cheers Andrew

                          80 - 100 - 200 - ?
                          90 - 120 - 150 - ?

                          Excluding the 5s... 180? Maybe.

The new 200 would look better with the spare on the bonnet.

I think it lends itself to a scoop like mine slightly modified of course but it would look like it was designed to channel air into the scoop.

While I agree, i have never understood this philosophy. Is it not better to keep a customer happy and steal others market? If that means customers you already have swap a preference then so what. My 2c worth.

I want a Prado or similar with a solid v6 diesel or better. If I don't get it then I'm lost as a customer. Its a shite load harder to get me back after that.
