  • Used Landcruiser Prado 120 (Yr 2004) Grande - Check list

    Hi,

A newbie here, owned a 90 series a couple of years back and now, just put my money down for a 2004 unit.
Going to pick up the car tomorrow and wondering whether are there any checklist that I should be going thru when inspecting the car on handover?
    Thanks!

      Thanks, mate!
      Appreciate that.
      Hopefully, not getting a lemon.
It's wife impulsive buying. she just fall in love with the roomy interior and quite well kept leather seats.
Could be one of PradoPoint member's car though

I've got a 2003 (kzj), exactly the same colour with the same factory alloy bullbar (still). Check the open moonroof (sunroof) under the rubber seals before you get the keys. Alloy tread plates look great with the alloy bar...get ready to empty your wallet

Looks good, don't forget to check the rear airbag suspension works and stays raised if you pump it up, can be a problem area with the Grande model.

sunroof looks ok though but loves the interior, pretty clean.
3rd row seats were removed by previous owner and fitted a 2 drawer compartment.
asked the dealer to put it back in (3rd row seats came with the car) and wondering whether any value or interested parties on the 2 drawer compartments or whatever you call it

oh oh... How do I do that?
mate, only previously owned a 90 series and this one has lots of gadgets and electronic stuff. I am overwhelmed to be honest.
mind sharing some info on how to check that?

I have a 150 so a bit different but there should be an up/down switch on the dash somewhere. I'm sure a 120 owner will clarify. The bags themselves can leak as they get old plus the compressor that runs them can die.

Also with the sunroof, it may look OK to the casual observer but rust can develop under the seals. There's been quite a few posts regarding this on here, seems to be a common problem.

With the drawers I'm sure there will be interest but you need to have 15 posts up before you can list them in the For Sale section. You already have the required 3 months of membership.

There is a switch on the centre console. Push the up button (arrow away from you). Sit there a while until its done, then get out and listen closely at each airbag (they are where you would normally find the rear springs). If you drive off with them raised, they will naturally deflate to normal after a certain speed (I think 8kph???). Similarly if you drive of with them deflated down they increase at approx 50kph??? Very handy for hooking up trailers, adjusting a trailer without detaching for overnight stays.

Thanks for the info. Will give the suspension a go and thanks for the tips on sunroof.
Definitely going to give it a good inspection.

yeah, being lurking around for a long time, since the days of my 90 series.
great site! Hopefully, getting some $$ to fund the replacement of the stereo set to a newer android powered version
