  • New Prado, what to look out for on pickup from Dealer

First sorry if this is repeated, I did search with new prado what to look out for also I know how forums can be, so tried with google"new prado" "what to look out for" site:www.pradopoint.com even without the quotes.

I mentioned in the introductions all the accessories I'm buying, (ARB Dual Battery, ARB Tow Bar, ARB Roof cage with mesh, ARB Bullbar with fog lights, Warn winch 9000lb, XGT lightforce, Safari Snorkel) these will be fitted by third party but invoiced by Toyota. I'm expecting to pick up the rig within the next couple of weeks.

As I found in the past when picking up a new car, each model can have gotcha's to be aware of. So wondering what I should keep an eye on from new buyers experiences.
Obviously compliance plate, the fact that my accessories are what they are suppose to be, the option pack with rev sensors. Anything else?

How far is it from the dealer's to where the accessories are getting fitted .. and back ???

That 500 K's on the clock had better be from getting the sttuff fitted ... and not from a heap of test drivers

        Cheers

When I picked up my prado I drove home about 500k's bought out of town.
Anyway about a week later checked tyre pressures and three around 34 psi and one rear one 55 psi
I didn't feel to good knowing i had driven 500k like that.

                G'day Addy,

It took me a week to test my tyre pressure and I found my 5 tyres at 59psi.

I have since learned that they are shipped from Japan with over-inflated tyres to provide additional rigidity whilst they travel the rough seas. It is a pre-delivery requirement that they deflate them to the correct pressure. My dealer failed to do this, and it sounds like your dealer got interrupted when half-way through the job.

I suggest the spare is also checked.

                Cheers,
                LFaR.

They forgot to do the nuts up on the LH front indicator in the Sov bullbar. When I got home it was hanging from the bullbar and had water in it. Fixed in 2 minutes with the dealer the next day.

Mine was given a pre-delivery clean up with a chainsaw!

It had just rained the day we picked it up, so some dirt got on the truck. They decided to give it a wipe down (nice of them I thought) until I looked at the car and found that it was scratched from nose to tail. They obviously didn't give it a hose down before the chamois came out.

This was fixed by them with a cut and polish and detail.

Not cool when you drive a black Prado. Stands out likes dogs balls. I was expecially narked off as I wanted to be the first person to scratch it up. I paid for that right

                          Cheers,

Check the Odometer is actually set to "Odometer" and not "Trip 1" or "Trip 2"
Trip 1, which was selected showed a whole 6km's.....the odometer indicated it had been a round the block a few more times....The sales rep has one on order and couldn't resist the temptation to take it for a spin..
