Prado TD GXL - Price?

Hi guys,

I'm seriously considering becoming a Prado owner for the first time and I've been quoted a drive away price on a new GXL TD auto with tow bar package for $57,100. I was wondering if that is considered a good deal in comparison to what others have paid recently. I've no idea on the mark up on these things and obviously want to get the best price I can before I signed on the dotted.

Apologies if posting about dealer prices is considered a no-no. You can PM me if you wish, i don't want anyone to feel unjust about other people's deals compared to their own.

Well PJ2..... that's very similar to what I paid for an 07 GX tricked with some extras. I know now that I could have done better on the pricing if I'd shopped around a little more. Had a few members say that my deal was a little on the high side. Such is life though as Ned once said...... Fairly sure some of the members have been in the low 50's for GXL's with bullbars etc. I think it really depends on what you come across at the time of your searches. You could, for instance, find a dealer with a new vehicle that needs moving, for whatever reason, and find that they're willing to shave a few $$ off to do so. Catch might be that you need to drive 200km to get it. I guess the better deals are there if you're willing to wait. Inevitably now too, with more and more beginning to surface regarding the new model, you'd have to assume that at some point in the next year (pure speculatiuon) that Toyota will put the 120's in a runout phase and offer some good deals. Dangerous to assume too much though.

My thoughts are that for a GXL with only the towbar included the price is a shade high. However, looking at Toyota's website I note that 57k is now the ballpark for GXL's. So I suppose unless you can find a dealer willing to make a better offer you're right on the RRP figure.

I know you have given your price for the TD but I picked up my Petrol GXL last Friday week (in QLD) and paid $56k on road but this also included Sovereign Bull bar, Rear Parking Sensors, Colour Coded Wheel Cover, Toyota Tow Bar, Bonnet Protector, Wind Shields, Window Tinting, Full Tank Fuel.
My local Toyota dealer quoted $61k for the same package and would not budge. I ended up with a dealer 130kms from where I live.
I probably could have gained a few more dollars by persevering but I was happy with the price and that is all that matters.
As Iron-Paww has already mentioned, you might have to look at a dealer further away

One thing is for sure, you won't be disappointed with the vehicle.

Hi,
Picked up a demo 08 GXL T/D Auto with towbar and only 300kms on the clock for 53,000 driveaway, had it two days and already done 1000kms in it averaging 8.7ltrs to the hundred most impressed.

Welcome Dice and Pajames2. Good to have you both on board - but don't forget to add your location to your profile.

Everyone will get a slightly different deal depending on the circumstances and many other variables. I guess you just have to be happy with the overall price you pay against what you can afford and what you want out of the deal. There are a couple of threads that will give you some really good ideas and information to help you- but you will, of course, still need to negotiate your own deal.

Whatever you choose, I doubt you'll regret becoming a Prado owner. Welcome once again to Pradopoint!!! 8)

If you don't have a trade in, try one of the car brokers to get you a price. Even if you have to pay their $400 odd fee, if you save a thousand, who cares!

With the dramatic decline in the value of the Aussie currency and the rapid surge in the Japanese yen, I would have thought that car prices would have gone up significantly. So you've probably done really well!

I paid 56k on road for mine a couple months ago. Its a GXL TD Manual and also has a tow bar.
But that 56k didnt include the luxery vehicle tax thing.....

No chance as the dealers have over ordered months ago for the expected Christmas rush and now there's no buyers. I'm going new car hunting on the weekend for a run around car

The toyota website has the rrp for a GXL petrol at 54,990 drive away & TD models with "factory bonuses" whatever they might be, but worth a look at the moment as new car sales are down 11% on last year and I would reckon good deals could be had with a bit of fishing. You could always ask the dealer(s) to give you a written quotation to supply the vehicle to your specs/with chosen accessories. Fax or email enough dealers & you may find one trying to unload the car you're looking for, just impress upon them your willingness to deal for the best price NOW!!

$56,400 drive away.
GXL T/D Auto with factory towbar.....and a full load of fuel :wink:

A full load of fuel!! Are you kidding!! Things must be starting to worry them! I got an eye dropper full of fuel when I drove mine out of sales yard. It'll be interesting to see how the dealers react to the downturn in the next few months I'm thinking. I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing a few more extra's getting added into the deals as the sales dry up. Things that used to be pure profit will be added into the deal for no extra cost. I mean, that's what you do when sales dry up isn't it? Make the deal more attractive for the same price.....

They are advertising diesels at drive away prices today in brisbane, must have had a boat load arrive that weren't on order??? how times chanage.
