Hay Mates : Sorry for the long leave  :
Now A mate of mine called me for the secrete peal of the Newly shipped Prado's which are expected to debute in Dubai in Late August

Now The Whole thing was Hush Hush , but I managed to steal a few flicks with my Mobile Cam, No Interior Photos But here they are

1- Front : LC200 Style - Nice and more Grandeur than the 120 I guess

2- Back Flick: The Swing Door and the 180 L Tank is here to Stay  Cheer Up Guys (Only the Grande version comes with a split door and spare mounted underneath with one tank only) - B

3- Side View : Wow : much of a car with empty moulding for the rear door But the whole thing is quite a shaker : Bye Bye Pajero Looks : Welcome buff boy

Now The interior Looks like a miniature of the LC200 but with cheaper looks and odd location for the Sound system (it is where the AC is now) and the AC is up with dials, The material is cheap ? and I mean Cheap but the upholstery is much better fit for a serious 4x4 (similar to the Patrol ones)
I promise to sneak and get interior pics, someone bail me if I got caught though
Now here is the hit: One car in the whole flock had a V6 – 4.5L – 286HP – Petrol Engine with reported 46KG-m of torque (almost similar to the LC100 V8) , now if this particular model goes to sale in public I will be there in the queue. Tires are still 265/65/17, The 4.5L beast had an 18” configuration and a Diff-Lock ? -Beat me- that thing was special in every aspect but it was one car
I wanted to know more and take more pics but you can guess how I was feeling, It all finished in 6 minutes
    Cheers

    Wow, Thanks mansour,

Wider body...... Hope the decals stay over your way....
The new integrated side steps look lower, and will cause all sorts of problems off road, especially when colour coded.

hmmm, it will have to grow on me. front end looks like a Hyundai Terracan, rear doesn't look too bad but whats with the size of that rear bumper? give it a couple of generations and the whole body will be plastic. I reckon those sidesteps and decals will be market specific.

Mansour- thanks for the photos. great job . if you get the chance, could you take some shots of the undercarriage?

Re: Pealing-Off New Prado's in Dubai

Interestingly it has a hard colour coded spare wheel cover fitted and I am guessing it is yet to be delivered. I wonder if the black thing in the middle of the cover is a lens for a rear camera that is fitted to the spare wheel bracket. The rear door handle looks to be incorporated into the number plate assembly. I thought the one shown might have been the equivalent of our Grande but maybe not as my thoughts of the blanks on the front bar below the headlights would be for headlight washers which one would think would be on the top model. It also looks to have front park sensors.
If you look to the right of the rear shot you can see another one with the spare missing and no roof rails and different trim on the lower rear bar. It also looks to have the current 3rd row seat arrangement of the fold up type.

If it is not the Grande as mentioned above because of the possible split rear door I wonder if it is equivalent to our VX but there seems to be a lot of fruit there.

You never know, the GAY might just grow on you..

I hated the 200 when it came out for the same reason but now I'm quite used to it. Without the decals and trade the side steps and put some aftermarket bar work/tyres on; it might turn out reasonable. At least it seems they've kept what really matters (180l tank etc)

Re: Pealing-Off New Prado's in Dubai

              Thanks Mansour,

              nice spying!

I'm not sure I'd go with 'gay', but on first specs I agree with Joey. It doesn't do anything for me. But Joey - take it as a challenge. If anyone can build up a rig to 'un-gay' it, it's you

If the interior has gone 'cheap' then that would be disappointing - that is one of the crucial plusses of a toyota 4wd over all the competitors.

With the fully moulded rear quarters, there's no way you could put a steel bar on the rear. I hope those useless side steps can come off.

I will, however, reserve judgement until I see one in the flesh, and as FlyingBushPig said after it's been toughened up a bit

I think the number plate assembly is looking dated and is dragging the new look down it's goto go. Hope it looks better in the flesh as they sometimes do.

Re: Pealing-Off New Prado's in Dubai

Yep, but the new Rav4, Kluger and 200 series just look like different sizes of the same thing, so it was inevitable the Prado would go the same way.

Oh, and I forgot to credit Mansour for the original photo that I butchered above. Hope you don't mind me messing with it.

that goes for the current one too!

I should add, incorect fitting number plates are a bug-bear for me. That includes putting slim-line plates on areas that don't need them (think rear areas) that end up showing all the screw holes that they don't cover. (And we won't mention using numbers as arse-about letters... ..that's just for BPCy!!!)

thanks for the pics, and nice photochop Fishnut lol

The rear window looks really small so a reverse camera woud be a must.

It is growing on me. Slowly. My inlaws are getting one either late this year or early next.

                            Guys,

I can confirm that the new prado will be coming out here in the 2 door short wheelbase version.....

you heard it here first!

and as good as a shorty would be offroad, the updated prado shape looks like a 200 series mounted a Kluger and this is the offspring!

thou a shorty prado is the next best thing to an FJ Cruiser....damn, spent too much on the hilux so far to sell it.....would love a shorty prado.

Mates : You are most welcome for the Pics : I asked the chap for another visit so I can take photos for the Under carriage and the Interior

It seams that the rear moulding will be troublesome for clearance , the side steps are removable , Decals are custom and so is roof rails , the Top of the range will be missiing the extra tank and there will be a split door config. - Third row seats are folddown type so no more hanging but this made the 3rd row seat fit fot 2 not for 3 : so the overall capacity of the car were reduced from 1+1+3+3 to 1+1+3+2!

   Odd that Nobody noticed that I mentioned the V6 - 4.5 L - 280 HP Engine

                              Cheers
