I would sell predominantly as is. I would take off those items you wish to keep (maybe your uhf and other transferable items which you can use on your Jeep) and then leave those items which are Prado specific, on there.

As for the price, I would think you could get close to the 50g mark.
NOW FOR SALE!!! - 2004 Silver GXL 3lt 4spd Auto - ARB Bullbar, Safari Snorkel, Redarc Dual Battery System, Cooper ST MAXX, Dark Tint, IPF900XS spots, Raised Bilstein/Kings Suspension/Firestone Airbags, Autosafe Cargo Barrier, Sandgrabbers, Rola Roof Rack Stuff, Insect Screen, Dust/Wind Deflectors, Sheepskin/Black Duck Seatcovers, GME TX3510, ARB underbonnet compressor, Allied Hammer Rims, ARB UVP, AJ Sliders

No, waste of time for me, I might as well keep the one I have as it is already set up & I cant see any benifet with a 2009 model over the 2007, Iam after a 4wd to go to places I cant go in the Prado so I can have a bit more of road fun

The Prados a great tourer but its off road potential is to limited for what I want

Re: How much is my Prado worth, How should I sell it

There in lies a dilema. A reasonably modded Prado that has excellent on-road ability and comfort plus a quite reasonable off-road capabilty versus something akin to a monster truck that can climb Mt Everest or swim across the Amazon but is an absolute pig of a car in city traffic or rides like a tank on the highway.

The solution is obvious - you need 2 cars.

I look at the 2 Prados in my driveway (90 & 120) and think to myself "That 90 series would go great with a further 6 inches of lift, huge muddies and fully articulating suspension."

My wife looks at me and she instantly reads my mind and simply says "NO!"

Re: How much is my Prado worth, How should I sell it

From a business perspective, a rule of thumb for most vehicles:

Every 12 months you own a vehicle it depreciates ~20%

Every accessory you fit, you will be doing extremely well to get 10% back on purchase/fit cost.

Therefore:
~$60K new, now ~$39K

$20K accessories = ~$2K

For a private sale look at ~$40-45K

Most prados are lucky to see more than 1% dirt in their entire life. Having one setup for real use may detract sales from city buyers who are the greatest majority of buyers. I have noticed vehicles I sent to auction in the city with more aggressive tires (AT) sell for less than ones with the OME
"Ooops I just deleted the internet, lucky I was able to recover 99.7% of it out of the bin"

Re: How much is my Prado worth, How should I sell it

I think you would see a better return by taking the aftermarket goodies off and selling them seperately.
The accessories are only worth about 10% of their original cost on the vehicle, but sold seperately they are probably worth 50% if they are in good condition.
I guess it depends on how much effort your wanting to go to for the extra dollars.

Keep the Prado ................ buy a toy for the rocks Very simple philosophy under this "Get Toyota or get F....... Stuffed"
If you do have to sell it though may as well sell with everything except for the stuff that can be readily changed over.

Re: How much is my Prado worth, How should I sell it

If you want something that you can take to worse places and give it a real good run, then consider buying something that is relatively cheap but highly modified. The guys up north use the Daihatsu Rocky or Suzuki Sierra's a lot for serious rock hopping. They modify the crap out of them. Then, they get tired with that toy and it goes on ebay for a very reasonable price. I'm considering buying one for the missus so that I can have some crazy fun on the wkends whilst leaving my Prado for touring and general offroad use (and maintaining its road comfort and condition). Depends entirely on what you want though.

As per price, I would take off everything that can be removed without leaving damge (i.e., roof cage, spotties, uhf, scanguage etc etc). I have just brought a prado and although I want something for offroad, I was deterred by cars that look like they've been offroad a lot. That's just a fact of spending big bucks. Make it look tough for sure - but if it looks like you've worked it hard it will decrease the appeal and overall value.

Dealers would charge around 50k for that vehicle. You could sell private for around 45 I think.

Cheers.
