  • 3 Questions About Buying A Prado

    G'day Guys,

I am planning to sell my 1994 Ford Falcon XR8 and upgrade to a 3 year old Landcruiser Prado 120 GXL V6 Manual.

    I have 3 Questions
    1. I was wondering weather people think there is a better or worse time of year to buy and sell. The XR8 will be sold privately and the Prado will come from a dealer second hand.

I was thinking late in the year leading up to christmas so I can use the new car for summer.

    Thoughts?

    2. The Prado will be on a novated lease, I understand all the basics FBT, kms travelled ETC and how it will save me money (the accountant did the numbers for me). Are there any tips or tricks i wouldn't know from talking to the accountant?

    3. Has anyone delbt with Nunawadding Toyota? If so good or bad?

    Cheers

Yep, bought 2 cars off them and no problems. They were the cheapest I could find/squeeze.

Re: 3 Questions About Buying A Prado

There are 2 types of leases. One where the lease covers everything, including petrol, servicing and tyres. The other type does not cover those items. You will need to ask your accountant to calcualte which is better for you.

Sometimes, you may be better off buying new as you will get a gold or platinum fleet discount from the car fleet company and you don't have to pay GST. This can amount to significant savings to what the normal price a dealer charges. So for an extra few bucks a week, you could be driving in a new car with the Toyota Service Advantage fixed service costs, rather than a 2nd hand Prado that is a few years old. You will notice that with the introduction of the 150 series, all of a sudden, the 2nd hand prices all went up. There are 08 GXLs priced at the low $50K mark when you can buy them new at low $50K back then.
