2018 VX vs Kakadu

Hi All

Whats your advice on my situation - theres still time for me to change my mind.

Recently, while ordering my new 2018, i made the conscious decision to go the VX over the Kakadu. i had the cash for the Kak but all the driving aid electronics and particularly the airbag suspension put me off. I cant help but think a more skilled 4wder wouldnt need all those things that not only wouldnt get used, but might also get in the way.

anyone have any more thoughts on this? is the VX and overpriced GXL or a more cost effective Kak? anything about the kakadu that is an absolute must-have?

In my opinion the Vx has lost one main advantage it previously had over the Gxl which is the Kdss suspension.

This was one of the reasons why I seriously considered the Gxl with a few added options as a possibility as the two vehicles are a little closer to then the previous model.

In saying that. The current Vx gains some decent new goodies to make it more superior than the gxl such as the multi terrain monitor, rear cross traffic alert & lane change indication, Centre console fridge/cooler along with all the other options previously included.

For another 10k the kakadu brings a fair amount of bang for you buck ie. Kdss, dvd for the kids, air bag suspension, crawl control (nice piece of gear),sunroof etc.

It really comes down to how much you want to spend, what you want & what you need. I would have loved the kaka also but another 10k on a car that has accessories beyond what I need I figured the extra $$ would be better off on the mortgage. Basically it’s a want for me. I could get on just fine with a gx but I figured i work hard and it’s nice to treat yourself once in a while.

Quintin79, Only you are able to answer this question... all I can say is that as a Kakadu owner we absolutely love it and the extra couple of dollars adds a heap of additional features. Would it go further into the desert or up the side of a mountain than a GXL or VX.. well that all depends on the driver. What I can tell you is that’s it’s able to tackle just about anything when I need it too and then hits the streets Monday to Friday with every bit of luxury you can imagine. Next time if our circumstances are different maybe we will end up with the GXL or VX which would also be fine. The most sensible Prado purchase for most people would be the GXL purely for less depreciation and better resale value. You won’t regret either, but i say spoil yourself with the Kakadu!

Hi guys
Have 2 options. Either to buy gxl 2014/15 or kakadu 2010 with 140k kms on it. I replace cars every 5 years as live by the ocean and rust kills them if I keep them any longer..
Am leaning towards the luxury of Kakadu as the owner has kept it in superb condition. Any advise? Thank you
