The cracking dash was a problem in the 120 series, the 120 s finished in 2009, before replaced with the 150s

Aha, as I thought then thanks rags. Just agreed on the purchase of the 2014 gxl in metal storm. Just over 100kms which is high but it’s clean inside and drives well enough. Gonna get it inspected before the sale goes through of course.

Oh really? That’s interesting, I had thought it was a problem related to pre 2013 (120 series specifically) models from my searching. Can I ask if the cracking was isolated to a specific area or was it all over the dash?

It was all over, left to right, looked like shit. When i got mine replaced, from memory they called it a “Customer Service Exercise”. Saved them from calling it a “Recall”, which would have been quite a financial burden on the poor massive Toyota company...!

Hi , Duncan271 , we have a similar 04 Prado GXL V/6 auto , just in the last week our dashboard has developed cracks , one crack is most the way across the edge above the speedo /tacho and both sides near doors , we have had a dash mat for the last 4 years and no cracks (yet) under it , I showed my local Toyota dealer yesterday (where I bought car 5 years ago ) , when it was serviced and their comment was , " never heard of it before and there wouldn't be any recall or fixed by Toyota because of cars age " , how long ago was yours replaced , and any pointers who to contact rather than going through the dealer , regards john

They replaced the 120 dash up to 10 years so you are well outside the time. Mine was done 2 days before the 10 years. Phew.
