New Prado GXL query

Hello,

I have never owned a Prado before and looking to buy a 2018 GXL white with leather, matts, tow bar and front sensors. I really like the drive of the Prado but bit hesitant from being warned about white smoke and DPF issues. Have you ever had these issues and is it fixable? Also what price should i be aiming to get. I live regionally in NSW with one dealer in town and the next two are 1.5 and 2 hours away .

The DPF issue has apparently been resolved with a new ECU program. My dealership told me even if your DPF is out of warranty it would be replaced for free as its a known issue. If you are concerned about the DPF by a Scangauge or similar to monitor DPF temps etc as you can make it burn hotter by intervening during a burn. A simple increase in revs can increase the temp dramatically stopping the DPF from blocking up. So yes the DPF is replaceable.

Price wise I'm unsure but I have heard people paying low 60's for the GXL.
